Where Do We Go From Here?

I lost my youngest son in a car crash. It’s the worst pain I’ve ever felt in my life and some days I wake up feeling like it just happened even though it was over 8 years ago.

Losing the people you love is never easy, regardless of how it happens.

No it isn't. I've lost both parents, both brothers, a wife and a child.

It's sure to be a somber fantasy league draft for us this year, but one kind of neat thing is, my friend's son (29) wants to take his dad's spot in our league....I thought that was pretty cool...

    Anyway.....Back to football:

^^^That's a true pro right there. I've been more than impressed with the way Tyrod Taylor conducts himself. Perhaps I underestimated him a bit.

    Truth...

I'm very sorry to hear that. I have 3 kids, and I can't imagine what that pain would be like...I've lost my mother and my best friend just here in the last couple months. Both very unexpectedly...It's brutal.

Without trolls message boards would probably be boring as watching shit steam. But when trolls get too crazy it sucks bad too. My point is without some trolling going on we probably wouldn’t post on sports boards. People really don’t come to all be in agreement.

    Would that be a condom?

Your depth of vocabulary is only rivaled by the depth of Haden Christiansens acting abilities.

  8. Dogside18 Franchise Player Browns

Vocabulary isn't your strong suit, neither is math. Team came back in 2000, it is 2018....the team was good before they left and had a playoff season and another good season or 2 since the return. About as much success as the Bears have had.

That’s how you guys keep this board going? Lack of understanding.

Jokes on you....I'm taking this as a compliment because I enjoyed the prequels.

Well your history ain't so good because they came back in 1999.

Before that....in 1995 the last year they played....they were 5-11. Is 5-11 good?

They've made the playoffs a grand total of....1 time since the return. Won 10 games once...missed the playoffs when they did.

The Bears in that time have played in a SB...but that doesn't matter because not once in any of this have I tried to tout the Bears success or denied their lack of success. So that argument is over before it even starts.

Condolences Lyman, you will also be in my thoughts.

    This explains so much.

Im off 1 year, it causes a response. You're still off 6 years. You are the Fox News of posting.

You are blind. That was not a bad team. That was a good team in a crap situation. The football game on the field was just a side show to the cities fandom falling apart.

Just like last years team was not indicative of their record. They didn't perform and as has been discussed ad nauseum is how a great chunk of that falls on the coach.

  19. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

I would (and have) argue that a great chunk of last year's record fell on the complete absence of a competent QB anywhere on the roster. If you want to believe it was the Head Coach, then good luck because we have the same one this year.

Holy crap have a I missed a lot of nonsense. Wow. I guess I'll try to round the bases, quickly.

    1. Urban Meyer is a garbage human being. He's a coach, which is absolutely an important educational figure, and an important role model in a young person's life. I would refer again to the numerous written material and evidenced arrest records, etc. over his career. Contrary to a claim made since my last posting, Urban didn't kick Newton off the team. Hell, he didn't even discipline him - the school was the only authority in the issues regarding his academic violations.

I don't expect Ohio State fans to like this - no one should. You can be a fan of the team while hating the coach. I don't expect you like me saying this either. Maybe I should've retired from the conversation by saying that I wanted to "spend more time with my family", and that "I have to stop because of my health", only to show back up on the next page. Maybe then you would've liked me. It sure worked for Urban.

    2. PFF's numbers, beyond the definitive stats that are published through numerous other sources, are subjective to a fault. No one has provided evidence to the contrary here. The only defense of PFF seems to be that, "People use them, and they're run by Chris Collinsworth". If you're relying on PFF to make any kind of judgement, you'd better be ready for someone to call your judgement nonsense. Someone mentioned Athlon - I don't know anything about them, but I'll check them out.

    3. I'm on here because I'm a Browns supporter, and I'm always interested in legitimate discussion. Apparently, no one can come around here and disagree with the collective without upsetting the lot of you. I am and have always been here for legitimate football discussion. Anyone who brands me a 'troll' is either unfamiliar with the concept, childishly can't stomach that I disagree with them, or is just an idiot. If you accuse me of such, cite the instance(s) in which I fail to be talking about something substantive, and are purely here to call names/make fun of/etc. It might've happened before with SAS, but that guy is a garbage piece of shit, so we'll call it even. If I engaged in the above with any of the rest of you, let me know. I'll wait.

When I see utter bullshit, I call it out. If you feel like I'm here a lot, or calling out your stuff a lot, then, well... maybe that's on you. I'm neglecting to cover an awful lot of utter bullshit from these past 10 or so pages because I'm hoping the above settles the meaningful stuff. I'd expect my bullshit to be called out, regardless of fandom, etc, as well. It's a pretty simple concept.

Now, let's go back to the business of having meaningful, constructive conversation about football. That has been my aim from the moment I started posting, and it will always be my aim. I might call you out if you're a piece of trash, but... don't be a piece of trash. I think that's a fair agreement on all parts.

TopDawg, I am so sincerely sorry to hear about your recent loss. Death is an ultimately powerful, awful thing. I'm so sorry that it's something you've got to experience, and I pass my best wishes to your friend's family, as well. If anything, take heart in knowing that you can be there for each other, and that I'm sure your presence means a whole lot to them, as well. I'm sorry, bud. That's tough, and whatever makes it better for you, do it - whether it's something as simple as posting it here or not. All the best.

Lyman, BWW, and anyone who has also suffered similar tragedy, the same goes to you. If there's one thing that's final and undebatable, it's that. I really wish it weren't such a terrible thing, but it takes a hell of a strong person to keep on like you guys are. Cheers.
