That's an excellent point. The Vikings arnt much at a pass rushing team from the linebackers, but I read they may try more of that this season. I agree that Barr would be a better fit in a 3-4.

Another knock on Barr has been his inconsistency and that inconsistency mixed with the amount of money he's probably asking is just not very reasonable in Minnesota.

I also think with Diggs and Barr still having contracts up in the air, Diggs will get priority over Barr easily.

Maybe the Vikings can get some good return in trading Barr, but either way they go, keeping him or cutting him loose wont shock me.

I agree with what you have here, but I would add that the inconsistency that Barr has displayed most likely is connected to what they specifically ask him to do in that defense and how it works away from his skill set at times.

Diggs will get priority and Anthony will be gone, but it feels like he has been set back some in his development because of how they went about utilizing him.

It's the theme that I repeat every year at draft time - Where these kids end up will have as much and sometimes more to do with their success rate than their God given talent.

I was really high on Anthony the year he came out. I'm pretty sure he was my top rated defender in that class, but I'll have to double check.

NFL.com Lists 5 Reasons Vikings Will Make 2018 Playoffs

The Vikings are coming off a 13-3 season and appearance in the NFC Championship Game. But they know that 2018 starts with a blank slate and, as Head Coach Mike Zimmer says, all 32 teams will start at 0-0.

As the Vikings set their sights on returning to the postseason, NFL.com’s Adam Rank and Marc Sessler recently highlighted Minnesota as part of an ongoing series in which they provide five reasons why each of the NFL teams could make the playoffs.

Listed as two of the reasons were free-agent signings Kirk Cousins and Sheldon Richardson. Rank said the Richardson deal “could be a game-changer” for the Vikings in 2018. He wrote:

_The Vikings already had the top-rated defense in the league last season, including a defensive line filled with superstars like Danielle Hunter (they signed him to a new deal, BTW), Everson Griffen and Linval Joseph. It was already the reincarnation of the Purple People Eaters and then you go out and bring in a talent like Richardson. It’s almost not fair. _

Rank said that Cousins “could be the top gun the Vikings have been looking for” under center.

Listed at No. 3 on the list was the hiring of Offensive Coordinator John DeFilippo.

One area where DeFilippo should immediately help Cousins is in the red zone. The Redskins struggled in that department the last two seasons (this was probably more of a running back problem), but it was a source of pride for the Vikings. Minnesota averaged 5.11 points per trip to the red zone last season, ranking fifth in the league, according to Football Outsiders (via the “Star Tribune”). The Eagles also excelled in the red zone. It’s where they made their money and great moments.

Dalvin Cook’s return was also listed as a reason the Vikings will make the playoffs. Cook started out hot in 2017 before tearing his ACL in Week 4, but the running back is expected to be ready to go for the season.

Rank said that Cook will be “the biggest key among Cousins’ weapons.” He opined that the running back could be “eased back in,” but that he expects Cook to be “the kind of spirit-crushing back who is going to help the Vikings salt away a bunch of late-season wins.”

Finally, Rank said that Minnesota’s “unfinished business” after falling to the Eagles in last season’s NFC title game will help the club make it to the postseason.

_They really didn't lose much coming from a great 2018 season. They lost their offensive coordinator, but might be better off with DeFilippo. They let their quarterback walk out the door, but somehow got better. They were productive on the ground but will probably run the ball better this year. That's pretty scary to think about. All Kirk has to do is get the ball to the players. Case taking them to the championship last year makes anything less than a return by Kirk a failure.

While the Vikings defense has remained almost entirely intact, the offense will look a bit different under new coordinator John DeFilippo and behind quarterback Kirk Cousins, who signed with Minnesota in March.

Zimmer said there’s “a few moving parts” on offense and that it’s important to get everybody on the same page. He’s happy, however, with the returning players’ performances and excited about the new additions.

He talked about Mike Remmers, who primarily played tackle in 2017 but shifted to guard when injuries hit. Zimmer said Remmers will “probably” end up playing guard this season.

“Mike’s really smart,” Zimmer said, adding that he didn’t think it was “a big deal” for Remmers to slide inside to right guard against Chicago in the 2017 regular-season finale and to left guard in the postseason.

“You know, footwork-wise and technique-wise it’s a little different, things happen a little faster, you’re not setting as far back on your pass protections,” Zimmer said. “[But] I think Mike is a very, very aware player. He can see the combination blocks and come off on the linebacker very quickly and understand those things, so I thought that was a good part of his game, and hopefully it will continue.” (Vikings.com)

There are multiple reports that Diggs asking price has risen today and at the same time Diggs says he like Minnesota, so I have no idea what the hell is going on. Maybe Diggs is just playing hardball via his agent to get the most moneys possible, but he best not push his luck too far or he will be released, in my opinion.

Just a few weeks ago he said the contract will take care of itself and that things will happen soon, but as the time approaches, his agent is screwing things up. Ive seen this before and its all about the cash money... too bad to, because when you are getting paid in the millions and demand raises, your just being greedy.

This doesn't look good right now, but this same situation has risen before and may just work itself out. I like Diggs a lot, just don't care for his agent right now, lol.

Some web-sites that cover the Vikings are reporting Diggs is gone because of this... im not so sure just yet.
