    Yes, it's 100% true.

What is the market value on a 100 pt player?

On any other team he get's $12M or more.

How much would another team have to pay him?

  7. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

i just lierally broke down Kucherovs deal and the added costs for each of the high end tax teams you asked for.
this is like when i had to list all of the shorter guys in the league for you. look it the fuck up yourself its easy.

What's his market value compared to kane, Mcdavid matthews?

  9. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Ah, yes. Of all the sports franchises in the state of Florida, the Lightning are the only ones having real, sustained success because their GM is the only one smart enough to utilize something that, apparently, skinny has a firm handle on. Of only every other major sports franchise in Florida had someone like skinny in or around their organization.

Yeah, I'm sorry, guys. I don't know why I bothered. Shoulda just let it die...

Skinny, you're wrong. Objective fact says that you're wrong. No one has disputed that state income tax plays a role (by the way, stop saying "tax-free"), but everyone knows that it plays nowhere near as large as role as you claim.

I hate that Kucherov is coming relatively cheaply. But the dude plays for a winning team with great teammates, got an 8-year guaranteed deal (that matters, too), and was an RFA in the first place (that matters, too). None of that is a bad incentive to stay in sunny Florida.

Side note: I really hate anything that makes Tampa better, or keeps them there for 8 years. Fuckin' balls.

    KilkennyDan and mattymcgee55 like this.

Taxes are part of it, the other part is him wanting to stay.

How much does he get paid minimum to play anywhere else?

This is what I meant, if he would've left tampa, any other team would be looking at minimum $12M a year.

  11. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

any FA that leaves their team and chases the dollar can get more, this is stating the obvious

  12. mattymcgee55 Legend Patriots Bruins

and as dline pointed out, the extra year helped TB here. one of the many reasons why homegrown is advantageous.

  13. KilkennyDan Let's Go Buffalo! Patreon Champion Sabres Bills Kilkenny

Ah, no. It is you that has said nothing.

  14. skinny123 Guest

All I meant to say was that it's $9.5M in tampa and anywhere else they're looking at $12M.

Chicago pays $13.8M to toews and Kane, it could easily be argued that stamkos@$8.5 and kuch @9.5 are better players.
Tax is just part of the selling point and not all gms can work it like the steveYmeister.

  15. skinny123 Guest

I didn't make up the term, tax-free state.

  16. skinny123 Guest

Btw dine, when the panthers get a real gm, they could use tampa as a role model on how to structure a nice cap friendly payroll.

  17. dlinebass5 M.V.P. Bears

Then you and they are wrong. It doesn't change anything.

I'll make sure they give you a call. You've clearly got this all figured out.

The Lightning advantage in Erik Karlsson trade talks

Put it this way: Does the Lightning have a choice? Three conference finals in four seasons have set the bar so high that the Lightning either clears it or it is done, beginning with coach Jon Cooper. It's all on the line next season. Yzerman knows it.

But he has an ace up his sleeve, and it's got no state income tax.

    It's the ZIP code.

    People want to play here.

    Erik Karlsson does.

It's all in skinnys head, wah wah. lol

    Now your'e thinking.

Teams in states with no state income tax make sure to sell that.

“In my mind it’s a factor you always look at,” said agent Steven Bartlett, who represents Lightning wing Ryan Callahan. “I know some of the big stars get hung up on the number because it’s almost an egotistical thing — and I’m not saying it’s this way with Stamkos. I’m just saying a guy feels like, ‘He gets 10 (million), I need 10 (million). I need nine just to validate.’ But if you’re smart you realize, ‘I have to run the calculation.’ It isn’t always just the number that’s thrown out there that’s the real number.

“And, believe me, the teams that have the advantage are more than willing to point that out to you, too.”

Just getting to this five-day interview window likely made it more challenging for the Lightning to sign Stamkos, now that there’s more bidders. And in three days, it’d lose one of its biggest financial recruiting tools.

But, but, it's all in his head lol
