It’s how it is. It’s been brought up here. Jock tax

Not true. Get a new calculator.

Yes but the state tax pales in comparison to the federal for millionaires in the US.

Spending tax is also relevant, but not used in this model. ^^^^

HFS, can we get off this dead horse! The argument that people benefit to the tune of many millions of dollars by playing home games in Florida is simpy devoid of factual support. I could really give a shit about what some fucked up calculator computes.

It’s an advantage but grossly overstated here.

I’m mad at myself for jumping back in to the rabbit’s hole.

Well, if it doesn't matter to anybody, that's ok, but it's a fact.

    Don't look dan.

Yzerman gets his guys to sign extensions for cheaper salaries, below market value, the taxes play a role.

It was amusing that Pat Maroon was signed the day after changing agents.

    That’s interesting.

Maroon had been represented by St. Louis-based agent Allain Roy, but has switched to Minneapolis-based Ben Hankinson.

So TB is paying the same amount in Toronto as the Leafs. Same amount in Arizona as the Coyotes and same amount in NY as the Rangers. And that is not included in any of those calculators

The tax treaty between the U.S. and Canada ensures that U.S. residents playing for U.S. teams do not pay taxes in Canada when they play there,” Packard said. “Similarly, Canadian residents playing for Canadian teams do not pay U.S. taxes when they play here.”

This is why I do my own research instead of listening to someone that just says it, because he believes it to be that way.

Not all states charge a jock tax, it's a small tax, it works out to under $200k in all cases. The point is, if you play for the rangers and you play a game in florida, you don't get any tax relief at the state level.

They still pay taxes in their home state for all revenue.

Federal taxes ensure that all money earned is taxed.

Yeah, kopitar pays over$1.7M and Benn pays nothing.

but if you play for the Panthers and you play in NY youre paying that state tax.
