.....over here: https://www.steelers.com/news/rudolph-it-s-an-adrenaline-rush Nice article with a personal side to the man that is the future of the franchise. I like everything I'm seeing and reading so far about him both on and off the field.
Here's an article furthering tech's "Getting to Know" post contextualizing Rudolph's running/scrambling ability. Notice the reasons why he scrambled or ran and the yards he gained for either TD or 1st down. I think it's great we get the film on the runs too. Gives some realism/reality to the story being told. He may not be the fleetest of foot but he does get the job done ... remind you of anyone his size and strength? https://www.steelersdepot.com/2018/...ing-mason-rudolphs-2017-scrambles-and-rushes/
I'd argue this point...Favre was the last of the "football player QBs". The game has transitioned between his generation and Rodgers. The way they coddle QBs today, records will continue to be broken...same as they were from the 50's through the 70's, then the 80's-90's...The game continually evolves into that of a QB driven league. The protection these guys get though will extend careers and allow them to do things their predecessors couldn't dream of. Rodgers injury history leans towards unavailable if he weren't as protected as he is today..He's missed games in 4 of his 10 seasons as starter, two of which ended with less than a full season's worth of games. I'm not calling him glass by any means, but Favre broke his finger on his throwing hand in a game, taped it up and never missed a snap...come on man, tell me ANY QB in today's game could/would do that? Favre was the true iron man of his position, a football player that just happened to play QB.
You're talking about two totally different types of QB. It's impossible to measure an apple vs an orange. No universe? Favre was a first ballot HOF, Rodgers is on his way to HOF status, but right now, he is no first ballot...and he's already 34, turning 35 during this season, coming off another injury. I think "In no universe" is quite drastic of a statement.
Brees and Brady definitely, the other two may not be first ballot. I'll give you one reason for each of them... Roethlisberger is too close to retirement with both Brees and Brady... It might be a long shot, but if all 3 retire at the same time, Ben will not get in on the same ballot as them. I know Ben is 3-4 years younger than his peers, but he has also taken a bigger beating over his career due to his playing style. I think all 3 of these guys will play 2 more years in the NFL and that will be curtains, Ben's best chance to be a first ballot might be if he plays his last season in 2018. He would have a much easier time getting in without either of the other two on the same ballot. The committee is a fickle bunch, they won't put 3 QBs in the same year...there is also Ben's shade that WILL be discussed at the forum for whittling down the nomination lists. Based on accolades on the field, Ben gets in easily. Because of his circumstances, first ballot is not nearly as easy to predict. Rodgers is close, but no cigar right now. Again, as I stated above, he's on his way, but if he were to end his career right now, he would not be first ballot. If he comes back from his latest injury and has another couple of seasons at or above average, then he will cement his place as a first ballot. However, if age does catch him (not all QBs are immune to age discrimination), then he could end up hurting his stock. It's simply too early to call him a sure fire first ballot. Again, I am not arguing that he isn't deserving, it is just way too early to state that. Last note...Brett Favre isn't up for discussion obviously as he has already taken that step to immortality.
Roethlisberger did that. Vs Baltimore, he played on one leg and Ngata got his hand in BR’s face mask, broke #7s nose (no penalty called) and Roethlisberger still played. Tough as fuck.
I agree he is a tough QB...but he has missed 26 games in his career, that averages out to nearly 2 games per year missed. He's only played 16 regular season games 3 times in 14 years....Favre only played LESS THAN 16 regular season games 3 times in his 20 year career...One was his rookie season and the second was his second year, in which he wasn't immediately made the starter. He didn't miss another game until his final year of his career. THAT gentlemen is Tough as fuck...
No it’s an add for ky jelly. It’s all good. I will go on record now saying Rudolph will be a first ballet HOF when he retires.
