Is there a reason that you don't have him on your ignore list? The reason I ask is that I believe you were one of the posters that had commented on the thread asking for it and you were in agreement that it was needed for this site.
He's not nearly the troll that was LakeErieEls, which is why he has not been suspended and Els has. I think there is a lot of back and forth on the Browns board with showstopper and some of the regulars here like to view him as a punching bag of sorts.
In all seriousness, I think the media is painting a target on the Browns....bulletin board material for teams
^^^^^ @Lyman that tweet right there is why @showstopper is so vocal right now. He's scared. The occasional Bears fan (for some reason) - scared. The militant among the Steelers' fans? Scared. The Browns haven't taken a snap in the regular season and most folks have them at at least 7 wins. Many folks have them shaking up the AFC North. Some folks (above) have them sweeping the Steelers (who only lost three games last year). Vegas has Baker as the second-favorite for ROY. There's very real reason for optimism around this team and the turn-around will come. When it does, it will be fantastic.
That's gotta be it. The conspiracy theory that they have to be talking them up to let other teams trounce them, not because they genuinely, you know, have a good team. When you're not incorrectly watching the game of football, you must listen to Alex Jones non-stop.
Not sure anyone (in the media) is calling for them to win a Super Bowl... Heck, even I know that their 9-7 Cinderella story ends after beating Tennessee in the Wildcard round but losing to New England in the Divisional round. Next year, on the other hand...
Primetime isn't exclusive in this...Hell, Joe Haden did it in Cleveland and I fully expect Denzel Ward to be a better cover corner than Joe was...and I have always been a Haden apologist..one of my favorite Browns for years.
Absolutely stunning progression of thought here. 1. Steelers are "second choice" to win Super Bowl - not sure where this comes from. 2. Maurice Jones-Drew and James Jones predict Browns will sweep Steelers in regular season. 3. Logically, Browns will win Super Bowl. Beating a rival in the regular season in no way makes a perennially bad team (Cleveland) a Super Bowl favorite, especially over a perennially good team (Pittsburgh). Bruh... if we go 6-10 next season but it's 6-0 in the AFC North, I'd be fine with it.
Follow-up... how weak must your team be (FSU or Baltimore, you choose) if they need the media to hype a team that's gone 4-44 over the last three seasons in order to give them the motivation they need to compete with them?
