been told it is in fact Sacco vs Pandolfo for the BU job. Albie O'connell got a 2nd interview but he's essentially out and they're looking for an alum that is currently in a major coaching position. surprised they havent made the decision yet. my gut tells me that they prefer the bigger name in Pandolfo but Sacco has more of a coaching resume, particularly head coaching resume. either way, fuck BU.
All of a sudden ... The Sabres are looking good and deep at D. It helps the depth when five d-men are taken in the draft. Oh, one of them may literally be the best defensive prospect ever. Add D PoY in the SHL, Lawrence Pilut and you're thinking dammmmmmn. Today the Sabres signed Brandon Hickey. He wore the C for that school Matty doesn't like. He came in the trade for Hudson Fasching. Now that he's in the fold, that trade is an official ass whomping.
You may not like it, but remember that I did not write "best defensive player ever"; the use of prospect rather than player was not accidental. based on expectations before he has ever played an NHL game, Dahlin may rate has the most highly anticipated defenseman of all times. The truth is that means dick. What he does over the next 12-18 years is what matters. But there is a great deal about this young man's skill, personality, and demeanor to justify such a lofty proclamation. Whaaa?! Was it some kinda rule back in the day that you had to have a letter superimposed on an asshole as a logo?
I wasn’t around but I do know that the expectations for Bobby Orr were tremendous before he went pro and the Bruins owned his rights for years before he came in to the league. He didn’t sneak up on anyone, hockey fans everywhere were awaiting his arrival. I was gonna post about your BU Dman right when that trade went down but then I realized that my team also has a BU defenseman.
Unwhittingly, Cat, you have captured the very event that got me butthurt as a youngster about the hockey team from Boston. They hired Don Cherry as their coach from behind the bench of the Rochester Americans, (their AHL affiliate at the time). In my mind, they stole Cherry from the Amerks. Bastards! On my shit list for life!
^^that was not my intention Dan. sorry for bringing up bad memories. i gotta say though - you post was funny as hell !
Dan, do not read this! Matty, what do you think of Jack Rathbone? He's a kid from your area going to Harvard next year. Thanks!
let me preface this by saying ive never seen Jack Rathbone play. I dont really know very much about him as a player but heard Adam Fox as a high-end comparable. he's a real Sully though, born and bred. I think his dad was a hockey player too. Rathbone played at Dexter, coached by Dan Donato, and soon to be coached by Dan's brother Ted at Harvard. assuming it will be a pretty big jump for him going from prep to ECAC. Harvard has had a few kids bail on them recently so this will probably help a kid like Rathbone get more ice time. assuming youre looking at a few years before he'll make the jump.
Speaking of young Rathbone- https://www.tsn.ca/harvard-bound-rathbone-s-high-hockey-iq-on-display-at-canucks-camp-1.1130295
I see the BC Eagles landed a couple of 1st rounders in the 2019 NHL draft. Alex Newhook (C) and Matthew Boldy (D). You can sort this list by colleges by clicking on the header (College) http://collegehockeyinc.com/commitments.php
14 year old Luke Hughes has already committed to Michigan. His older brothers are Quinn and Jack. If you are not familiar with them now, you will be for the next 15 years.
Newhook is supposed to be unreal, seen as a top 10 pick next year. His sister is also going to BC ....to play for the women’s team.
Jack could’ve play at Michigan this year with Quinn but chose to stay with the NDTP. Interesting choice, I don’t understand the upside in his decision.
