Hedman is an aberration and is not a comparable for Karlsson salary negotiations. SY has pulled some stunners; that they have not lost some elite talent due to cap restraints is astounding.

that Hedman deal is so good for TB. Seems like that set the standard and Stamkos then followed suit.

been trying to make Tavares work for TB. If they sign JT now, how can they continue with the same roster intact.
    best candidates to be moved-
    Callahan- 2 yrs, $5.8 per
    Palat- 4 ys, $5.3
    Coburn- 1, $3.7
    Girardi- 1, $3

After next season they'll have to pony up to keep Kucherov (currently makes $4.76), McDonagh ($4.7), Stralman ($4.5), Point ($687k), Yanni Gourde ($1).
and then in 2 years they have Sergachev and Vasilevsky.

Yzerman has done an awesome job of keeping that roster together, no doubt about it. best roster in the EC.
I just cant see how they sign Tavares and keep even half of those players that are due up. if they want to become top-heavy and unbalanced while releasing really good players in to FA, I guess JT could work. But why would Yzerman all of a sudden switch it up when they're just starting to reap the rewards of smart/long term thinking decisions?

Here in NY, I'm reading that the SJ Sharts are the leading contender if JT splits.

I cant see it happening myself. If they sign JT, there would be a lot of roster work to do and it would essentially blow up a good thing. Stevie is a genius and my all-time fav player, but damn, he doesn't need a JT, lol.

Firehalo, im hearing the same thing about the Sharks... in my opinion, he resigns with the Islanders and for Bookoo Bucks.

If they sign JT, they can't possibly justify paying him more than stamkos, I think that would be the offer tampa would have to make him. They would have to use the tax-free issue as a selling point. If they do sign him, they would make (stamkos, kucherov, tavares and hedman) as their core moving forward. Anyone they lose would get caught in the crossfire, but that's the way things are these days looking at the blackhawks.

amazing if TB gets JT for $8.5.

$8.5 goes a helluva lot further in FL, so that number probably looks like $10+ in NY/CA.

If stevie Y gives tavares over $10M florida bucks, stammer will be livid.

He's been their boy since day 1, right from the draft. Tavares has never reached the 40 goal plateau, stamkos had 60 and 51.

Never gonna happen. Why would he take a huge after-tax pay cut?

We do not know what is most important to him. Loyalty? Home? Best chance at Stanley?

I think it's a three team race with Loyalty (NYI) in first Stanley (SJ) in second and T.O. in show.

Doubt tampa is in the picture, they have to pay him the same as stamkos and he's asking much more.

Just a few hours left and the Lennies are quiet. Limp dicks won't jump on a horse and ride. If they are so "in the know", start leaking.

this quiet stuff on the JT front only helps the Broonz.
Get on your knees Sweeney and make this happen!
