  2. Dogside18 Franchise Player Browns

They were talking about him on Golic and Wingo this morning and the quote was (paraphrased) "his production on the field is does not outweigh his continued struggles off"; "they loaded the offense with weapons last year and he took a step backwards".

if you only accepted these type of BS excuses from other people, there would be nothing to talk about on here. I don't think Tom Brady has issues when he has a bad line and avg running backs year after year. Difference is he is not just a good QB (which would be a step up from Winston), but the GOAT.

  5. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

Jameis is sitting in the cockpit of a 10-win team. He's only capable of three (and those were against 5-11 Chicago, 3-13 New York, and the New Orleans' reserve players).

    Negative.

You do some of your own digging for once to try and disprove anything I've said. I routinely abuse you like a rented mule in these arguments. It can very quickly and easily be inferred that I am right, and you a wrong.

Until you disprove me, that is how it will continue to work.

  8. Your the best...disprove this tough guy 0-16

So proving Jameis is not good on OR off the field leads to another Browns jab.

I guess that is when we will finally see the end of Stopper on these boards...Get all you can take of him now Browns fans, when the Browns start winning this year...stopper disappears like magic. He won't have anything unintelligent left to say. He'll have to move to the Buccs board and start badgering that fan base when they finally have enough of Winston....oh wait...do they have a fan base to badger?

  12. We have been hearing this WAY too long...when the Browns start winning...getting Quinn was gonna turn it around, getting Weeden, Manziel(will get another shot and become a solid QB) and now Taylor/Mayfield...how bout let the season start and see what happens instead of running your mouths like some of you have done the past 5 yrs....in the end you guys look like the fools

  13. Just to prove my point again w TB
    Rush offense #27
    Defense #32

    Stopper logic 101:

Browns Fan: "Taylor is a 2 x Probowl QB who is a steady player and is head and shoulders above anything the team has fielded since Bernie."
Stopper: "How do you call him a Probowl QB?"

Browns Fan: "Winston has had multiple altercations off the field related to sexual assault and has continued to show his sophomoric level of maturity"
Stopper: "He hasn't been convict.....Derwin James is DROY...is Cook still eligible for OROY? he is, mark it now, he is OROY AND comeback POY...Taylor is short...I know football"

  15. If Taylor is so good I would have drafted Chubb#1 and Ward #4...I guess there’s a reason why they went w QB #1 and Taylor still kinda young

You are so short sided on everything...It isn't just that Taylor is the best QB that the Browns have had since they returned in 1999, BUT probably still no where near as much potential as Baker Mayfield...It's, well either Mayfield sucks or Taylor sucks, one can't beat the other so...which ever doesn't win the starting role game one, the other one sucks.

Reality is, Baker Mayfield currently is going on potential alone. He really has nothing else going for him. Personally, I have that potential as extremely high. High enough that I hope that he is a top 3 QB in the next 3-5 years in the NFL. That potential is what got him drafted at #1 overall. It isn't expected to be that high on day one of his career, like you allude to.

As for Tyrod Taylor, his potential is what it is. He's been in the league long enough to realize his ceiling is probably top 10-13 QB in the league any given year...But you know what, this team has barely sniffed top 20 caliber QB play since the rebirth, and that has been unexpected good years by guys like Derek Anderson who was outplaying his abilities.

Regardless, if you have an opportunity to replace your <#32 rated QB with one that has the potential to be in the top 15, shouldn't you be excited to be able to get that guy for a 3rd round draft pick?

THEN, if you have an opportunity to replace your top 15 QB with one that has the potential to be a top 5, shouldn't you do that as well, and be excited for the opportunity?

Staying status quo with mediocre is no way to drive your roster towards Super Bowl caliber. Tyrod Taylor brings us playoff caliber QB play, Baker Mayfield was drafted to give us Super Bowl caliber play down the road as a veteran...Tyrod simply gives us a better chance to win while he gets to that level.

Why is this concept so hard for you to comprehend?

  17. How do you know this....according to many on here Taylor has played w bums...this is the most talent he has had...just like Mayfield is a huge assumption w being a SB QB why can’t Taylor thrive and not be a top 10-15 QB...this isn’t being a Taylor supporter but I just find it funny that Mayfield has these huge aspirations just cause he was the #1 pick...why isn’t Garrett gonna break the all time sack record? Btw, there have been plenty of QBs that went #1 that started week 1 w/out much doubt

I don't know anything on this subject because it hasn't happened, hence the "potential" moniker attached to both. Any player that is - drafted/traded/free agent/new coaching staff/new contract, etc... is playing on potential. No one knows how any change in a situation will effect ANY player in the NFL.

My educated guess is that if Tyrod is somewhere between 14-20 with the roster he dealt with in Buffalo, he could tap out around #10 with a championship caliber roster. That's where he has been in the past. Everything is based on potential only.

It IS A HUGE assumption on Mayfield's potential...but what the fuck else are you going on, based on the fact he is the #1 overall pick in his draft class? Do you use the #1 overall pick in the draft on a QB that you assess his future potential is somewhere in the 20-32 range for the future?

In the same breath, being the #1 overall pick in the draft, I think Myles Garrett has HUGE expectations on his shoulders as well.

How many of those #1 overall draft picks had a playoff QB on the roster when they were drafted #1 overall? Go through the list and let me know the outcome.

ALSO, while doing your calculations, let me know, of those #1 overall draft picks, which ones had a playoff caliber season their rookie year.

I know YOU don't expect much out of this Browns 2018 season. Due to recent seasons, I can't say I EXPECT a huge year either, maybe 5-8 wins in my guesstimation...However, this Browns front office is not shooting for 4 wins, they are shooting for a playoff birth. Which is why they spent a 3rd round draft pick on a QB that has taken his team to the playoffs recently.

  19. Well that's all fine and dandy but that's like having a 19 yr old rookie going 4-4 w 4 HRs in his debut vs Nolan Ryan...this team has won 1 game in 2 yrs...doesn't matter the reasons why they lost....bottom line is a loss...the division has also improved whether experience or just upgrading at different positions...the closest game in a division was week 1 vs Pitt....how bout show somebody instead of just guessing or making bold predictions(not you the Browns FO)

Not even understanding this tangent and relevance to using potential as a starting block for assessing rookies and free agents.

I will repeat myself...NO ONE expects Baker Mayfield to step in and take the Browns to the Super Bowl in 2018. Not as the #1 overall draft pick or otherwise. He must first LEARN before his potential is realized. THAT would be like comparing a 19 yr old rookie going 4-4 w 4 HRs in his debut vs Nolan Ryan.

I understand completely that some of the other teams in the division may have improved. I can't intelligently say at this time, because frankly I haven't studied every off season move made by each team to give that type of evaluation. What I do know is that there isn't another team in the NFL, let alone the AFC North, that made as many moves to improve their roster in the 2018 off season. You cannot argue with any sense of realism that any other team made as many positive moves as the Browns made, which include both free agents and rookie draft. When evaluating the moves, don't forget to take into account their losses as well...The Browns had one major loss, Joe Thomas, that's it....everything else is an expected improvement.

Listen, if you don't like talking/reading about potential, then you have ABSOLUTELY NO BUSINESS posting in the off season. Every thing done by every single team is discussed based on potential. Nothing has happened, thus potential is the only discussion to have. If you don't discuss potential, then there is NO DISCUSSION. These boards would be dead, the website would fold due to no sponsors, ESPN, NFL Network, and every other media outlet would fold as well. The ONLY discussion being had RIGHT NOW on June 25th, 2018 would be about recent MLB games played.
