Ok so you talked after the game like you watched the whole game, but in fact you watched less than half of the game. Think maybe that explains why your summation was so wrong? Why you had to pretend like that instead of just saying "I only saw half the game", I do not know.
I've seen this from the standard side on cameras as well and the Ref clearly waves him back on. This might not be a very sexy answer.... but that whole play was just extremely unlucky for Poland. The Ref is obliged to wave a player back on who's just received treatment at the earliest opportunity that does not present a material advantage to that team. It looks like the Ref fails in this but actually, he doesn't. The ball is in Senegal's half, heading towards Senegal's goal, the Ref waves him back on just as a Sengal defender heads the ball clear and back to a Polish player. That's a very good time to wave the player back on cos the ball is in his half and his team doesn't have the ball. The Polish player passing back to the goalie from the halfway line is what causes this. Its very rare to pass the ball back from that high up the pitch, I dunno why he did it tbh. It was just a confluence of events, extremely unfortunate for Poland, but hard to blame the Ref too much tbh.
I have watched a few matches and it seems the refs are berated constantly. Keep the game on the pitch and off the talking heads opinions.
It was obvious. But damn. I knew Iran would keep it close at worse. They have solid D. Keep their shape for the most part. goal happened on a shot that was going wide and ricocheted twice.
Soccer interest: 1. Rooting interest. 2. Informed and knowledgeable with some background. 3. You have to watch at least 60% of a game to get into it. You can't watch 5 mins of den/aus and have any appreciation. 4. Your surroundings (friends, family, work). If nobody's talking about it, chances are, you won't either.
My dads best friend at work jeff played second division in england. I played too, even used to play pick up one time with diego maradonnas brother, he broke my finger with a shot when I was in net. My dad used to take me to watch the blizzard as a kid when it was the NASL. I still remember that 4-3 game vs the philadelphia fury.
