I just watched this for the first time Saturday night as I am a poker buff and love watching poker and Texas Hold'um. The people in the room though a boat won the hand, it doesn't. I was shocked Edward G. Robinson (Mey Mugsy, Mey) had the Jack of Diamonds as I was expecting he was bluffing McQueen and he would win. Shocked a movie about McQueen and he loses it all. Even more shocked was he was dealt the last 2 cards separately. The one thing I can understand. Well two things - how hot is Ann-Margaret for 1963 and how can a dealer, with no obvious signs, be able to manipulate a deck of cards like that ?? It's like Worm (Edward Norton) in Rounders against the NY Municipal workers. How can you shuffle, shuffle and reshuffle a deck and have an Ace on the bottom or give your buddy the card he needs. Same in this movie with Shooter, Karl Malden, giving McQueen, the Kid, what he needs. Can't get over how the real people do it without getting caught or making it look obvious.

no idea. Whiplash is a baffling movie to me. who the hell would ever want to play for someone like Fletcher? how could he keep his job for so long after all the abuse he put on students? and why at the end does he now support Andrew in Caravan after he suckered him into coming there to play a piece he didn't know to look foolish and blow his chance of getting discovered? this movie is not about jazz. it's sick and twisted and filled with abuse and I have a hard time believing Fletcher would be allowed to be a teacher for so long like that. Why would anyone be around him or play for him ? He's flat out nuts. There are many other positive ways to get the best and most out of people than abusing them.
