Recent history, it's documented on these boards 2015 Stopper best QB = Jameius Winston 40.0% winning percentage Irish best QB = Marcus Mariota 47.6% winning percentage 2016 Stopper best QB = Jared Goff 50.0% winning percentage Irish best QB = Carson Wentz 62.0% winning percentage 2017 Stopper best QB = Mitchell Trubisky 33.3% winning percentage Irish best QB = Deshaun Watson 50.0% winning percentage 2018 Stopper best QB = Rosen, Allen, Darnold...I'm still not sure which order Irish best QB since November of 2017 = Baker Mayfield The team with the #1 overall pick agreed with me... Take it for what it's worth..
So for everyone BUT Winston, it's winning percentage...but for Winston it's his defenses fault... So in a college playoff game, where Mayfield leads his offense to score 48 points against a defense that allowed 13.2 points per game...BUT his defense gave up 54...That is still HIS fault even though he threw for 2 TDs and CAUGHT another TD in the game? This is your example of WHY he will not be able to play QB at the next level....
Sucks? Lol TB #1 pick, Chic #3 pick, Philly trade up(Browns smh)....I guess QB means everything...Foles best QB in league
He didnt lead the offense thats the difference...his RB had over 200 yds rushing and 2 TDs, his defense scored a TD, he led his potent offense to 10 pts in the 2nd half and 3 were a given starting at 25 yd line
Even though you regularly state otherwise... "What has he won?" "Did he win?" etc... It changes when it comes to Winston...That's all I'm saying.
http://www.espn.com/nfl/recap?gameId=400951575 Just saying these losses in the last few seconds is on the defense or another player fumbling the ball causing a L....fine Winston is why they lost the game I guess
I believe the type he meant may of been John Elway Peyton Manning Terry Bradshaw Troy Aikman Eli Manning Carson Palmer Drew Bledsoe Cam Newton Matthew Stafford Vinny T Mike Vick or even Alex Smith. Those types of #1s, I guess he left it open for interpertation
Stopper...come on man... The first game, Winston lost 3 fumbles, including getting the ball, down 3 points with :35 seconds left in the game. Just get the ball 35-40 yards and give your team a chance...not fumble on the first play of the drive. The defense is the one to blame here? Second game, It is what it is...a good game, albeit a bad defense in the 26th ranked Bills (I know the Buccs were 32nd). This is more the norm in the NFL than any game that you would see a blow out. I didn't see a game there that the defense "lost". The Buccs just ran into a better QB on that day..that's all. I'm not sure why you are "Blaming" other players for fumbling the ball away here...yes Adam Humphries lost a fumble, but Winston lost a fumble and threw a pick...so he accounted for 2 of their 3 turnovers... So, you gave me two games, both of which Winston couldn't protect the ball and want to change my mind on him being a franchise QB.. Come on man...you've gotta be able to do better than that.
Actually, reading stopper's posts for years, he MEANS 6'3"+ height, 220lbs+ weight, rocket arm. That is exactly what he means by #1 type QB. It has nothing to do with skill set.
Out of all the QBs topper listed Luck is the only one I would even talk to about becoming the Steelers starter. And only if we needed a QB.
first of all, LOL!!! I wouldn't hold your breath on any takers. ... in three years even you will have to concede that Baker Mayfield is better than Jamies Winston. (it might only take two years)....
I was was with ya in 15, 16 and 18 Irish....I did have Trubisky #1 last year though. FWIW: I think stopper is just plain delusional when it comes to Winston...
It's strange. I'm usually majorly biased on guys that punish Ohio State, but for some reason I had Watson behind Trubisky and Maholmes....I was giving too much credit to Clemson's defense, and not enough to Deshaun, that's for sure. Lesson learned. I started thinking seriously about Mayfield for the Browns when he tried to plant the Sooner flag in Columbus. It was a revenge game for him, and he just showed a leadership with fire and tenacity that was special IMO. It's what I want in my QB..... As soon as I realized just how bad it was gonna be with Kizer, which was about week 4 or 5, it just seemed like the thing to do was pay a lot of attention to Oklahoma football games...I'm just excited Dorsey saw it the same way. He was on Mayfield all the way....
Maybe showstopper got locked up with Winston and stopper dropped the soap. That would explain his infatuation with Winston.
I guess you are missing the point...he played more than well enough to improve his W/L record but other circumstances played a part....to just give a QBs win % isnt a great stat IMO to show how good he is....a perfect example is 12-23 for 87 yds and he gets a W
