I think the Patriots would be great in any division, but their path to the Super bowl would be much harder if they didn't have at least 6 games on the schedule every season that gave them access to sweep. As for the Browns in the East - that's a tough one to take a stab at. Maybe they aren't as quick to have turnover in the front office if they win a handful more games each season? Could be that they never leave Cleveland to begin with and Belichick remained their head coach.
That's why QB Eagles was so lethal against real life competition. They'd have to cover the deep pass and then you could just take off running and rip a first down on every carry. You could bomb the life out of them or serve up death by a thousand cuts. Either way, you were scoring on every series.
It's still Cunningham, I mean QB Eagles, but Vick is broken if you don't spy him. ESPN 2K5 is the greatest football game ever. Madden is still coming out with "new features" they had back then. It was so good and at only $20 that EA went and threw money at the NFL for the exclusive license. My old copy on the Xbox got wrecked but I found one for like $2 at a used games shop and the guy gave me a weird look when I was pumped to find it.
I think the shit wheel hurts the Pats more than helps. A rival that made them stronger and have to play up to is worth losing an extra game or two for this team. Just my opinion but when they lose it often seems to be from not being tougher or from apathy. If any one of the shit wheel teams could stomp the Pats for even 2 or 3 years in a row I think they’d be better for it.
According to this site the best ever video game player is Tecmo Bo Jackson. It has QB eagles at 10 and Vick Madden 2004 at 3 https://bleacherreport.com/articles...-game-athletes-of-all-time-with-video#slide31
I think it was ESPN 2k5 but the only other great option at the time if you didn't want to be Vick was McNabb. He could scramble a ton still, just not to godly levels, and could pass better and had TO. My bro got pissed when I used Vick against him when he always used Vick against me. I tell him you gotta spy or bring the low zone coverage on the outside. Do it well and you can exploit him when the guy goes to plan B which is to throw the ball when they aren't ready. That's why McNabb was better if you didn't just try to spam the run. No other player kept you more honest on defense.
This is something that Jason said back in 2012 when we were doing the podcast every week. The idea that the Patriots would lose certain games in a manner where fortune seemed to rise against them appeared as a bit of a result to some of what you mentioned, in Jason's opinion. If you look at the Pats losses in big games, most of it came down to stylistic differences between teams that simply caused too much confusion for extended periods of play on NE's side of the ball.
Best football game of all time. You are 100% right, Joe - Madden is still coming out with stuff they got right. Still got my copy for my old Xbox in the closet. That baby is gold.
If only they made it reverse compatible with the XBox 1 now. My OG XBox is toast and I don't even know where I put the 360. I gave up on it once I got my PS3 at the time when those exclusives were beating the XBox ones.
Quick sidebar - How you feel about the XBox 1? My daughter is getting to that age and my wife enjoys the 'Red Dead' series. A lot of people are telling me to get the PS4, but I like the online platform for XBox a little more.
