Former Toronto Maple Leafs general manager Lou Lamoriello is expected to join the New York Islanders’ front office.


The news was first reported by Arthur Staple of The Athletic. Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman later added some additional information.


Lamoriello, 75, served as the Maple Leafs’ GM the past three seasons. The team introduced Kyle Dubas as its new GM earlier this month and Lamoriello was reassigned to a senior adviser role.

Neither the Islanders nor Maple Leafs have made an official statement regarding the reports.
