I think he's an eventual top 16 quarterback with a long enough learning curve that he won't make huge strides in 2018. He'll be better, and it will be noticeable enough to give you guys some hope for the future, but he has some time to put in before he shows he's the answer. That's based off of both my projection for him prior to the draft and what I saw from his last season. He has the physical skill set to be a solid NFL starter but he has some work to put in before he reaches his potential.
I appreciate that, and I share that sentiment. I don't think your placement of him in those 2018 thoughts was wrong - I could make an argument for a few spots higher, but that's it. Personally, I'm not sure Trubisky has the mental capacity needed to excel at the highest level. I hope I'm wrong. We'll see. It's just that he sounds absolutely identical to one of the dumbest people I know, and if I close my eyes I can't tell them apart. But that's only one of the pieces of obviously concrete, purely objective evidence that I have.
I think a lot of these QB's are going to fair as well as the rest of the team around them. Some of the higher ranked will fall as the season wears on because of the faulty play of the team around them. I think a Cousins/Bortles types might rise considerably if their teams start hot right out of the gait. I like Rodgers slightly over Brady and would maybe move Wilson down a peg or two. The rest are real close to wear I would rank them now as far as pre-season goes. Going to be real interesting to see how these field Generals do this year. Its a cool and interesting story within the story. By the way - I think after watching Keenum for a full season, he could be a climber, but the Broncos are confusing to me. Smith in Washington is interesting and the Mahomes project in KC is going to be fun to watch unfold. I'm trying to determine who my 'darkhorse' on that list is and I think right now I have to go with Bortles.
Sorry for getting in so late, but I think Oliver Luck’s kid is ranked too high, especially considering what he’s gone through these past couple of years. It “feels” like he may need a little more time, etc., to get right.
Jared Goff is poised to move up from the 15 spot. His receivers are better this year and he is settling down into a great scenario of a very good running back leaving lanes open for intermediate freebies.
Is Watson so low because he is coming off injury or because you think his style will lead to him getting injured quickly again? Eagles fans like to throw out if Wentz had not gotten hurt he was going to be league MVP but had Wentz and Watson both remained healthy I dont think it was going to be a slam dunk for Wentz.
Fair but also fair is that Watson had such a small sample size that he may have been figured out and be contained to a decent extent after a few more games. If he did keep the same pace, which I would highly doubt as a rookie, then he would have been MVP.
Who was going to figure him out he would have faced the Colts, Rams, Cardinals, Ravens, Titans, 49ers, Jaguars, Steelers, and Colts again.
I have a Random opinion! The league is going to face a serious outcry from fans over the new helmet rules. It is going to change the game radically, but not for the better of the game itself, just the betterment of players safety. The running ♀️ game is through as we know it.
Bullshit. The whole running ♀️ game is about people getting their heads lower to drive their opponents backwards. If your head is high you have no drive.
If your head is down you miss your target more often than not. It is the exception, not the rule to lower their head. You "INITIATE" contact with your hands, THEN drive with your upper body lower on a pulling block. This wouldn't be construed as "leading" with your head. (edit) in the running game, a lowered head to protect yourself is allowed...
