Overpaid? More like underpaid ! Seems like a win-win for both teams. SJ gambled and rolled the dice in trading for Kane at the deadline and now it paid off with an extension! Good for them and Buffalo !

That's why I referred to the irony of this. Each person makes their own reality based on how they process information.

Buffalo was excoriated for getting so little for E. Kane. Now, some are upset with SJ for paying so much.

That concern is independent of the $7MM AAV that he's going to get - it's legitimate to debate the merit of this extension ($ & term). I think it's pretty reasonable for a guy turning 27 in August with his attributes - but that's my opinion. What we know is the he fit in like a glove on that team, and the players all advocated for him to come back. Players like E. Kane.

If some think SJ overpaid and some think Buffalo got the worse deal, then it seems to have an underlying balance, does it not?

According to what jason was expecting one month before the trade, the sharks didn't overpay.

and just think Ron Hextall said the price was entirely too high for the Flyers to offer up the same picks as Buffalo did. Haha. Dope.

Hex missed out. Glad EKane went west (since he’s not a Penguin).

Hex-doesn't like to take big chances. Hex has a vagina. Hex is a big pussy. Hex will never win in Philly. Hex will be fired by 2020.

Sharks are going to end up inking this deal? A career high of 57 pts?

maybe on a new team and teammates he breaks out to be a 80 pt scorer ?

This is the worst, he was on his best behaviour for his contract year.

Maybe, but he's 27, I think after 8 yrs he would've done it by now. Average peak years for a an nhl player are 23 to 27.

Sharks just might have to pay, california has higher taxes than florida or texas. The bolts, panthers or stars could pull this off at $6M a year.

wow. how time flies when he was shipped out of Philly for that sad sack Luke Schenn. Talk about highway robbery !

$8M/8 years is a suckers trap.

  16. Catfish Guest

didn't he make $5 mil last season? that's a huge raise. sucker is right.

  17. skinny123 Guest

    $4.25M

Now $8M for an aging player that doesn't play the full ice.

  18. skinny123 Guest

Let me just be clear, any player earning 10 cents more than skinny aint worth it.
