Yep, I noticed right away the saw isn't on

Or maybe he's on the "Roadrunner" side and the guy with the camera is on the Wile E. Coyote side. How many times have you seen the coyote side just drop away leaving the Roadrunner floating in mid-air?

That and I worked with quite a few numbskulls in my construction days who would have done most of that cut from the wrong side because the side-edge guard on the saw could squeeze close enough to the deck posts.

The whole darn NFL just became the dumb ass of the day. This new helmet rule is going to destroy the game we all love. RBs have now been rendered useless.

Imagine that... a fan of a team who's players champion the use of head-first tackling hates the rule change.

The way it's written - "to initiate contact" - would seem to me that it will hardly be called against running backs. Most of the time they're lowering their heads is to protect themselves from contact, not initiate with a defender.

Coleman probably got called for a facemask there too.

So what part about the three point stance going away because of the helmet rule don’t you understand SAS?

You do realize, they aren't outlawing the 3 point stance...right?

The prognosticators are ASSuming it will go away, because they don't think they will be able to adapt play to the new rules. Ask a coach at that level and they aren't going nearly as ballistic as the fans are, due to the misinformation being released.

Let's move this to another thread but... the stance isn't going away. The facemask has to be up now. No more blocking with the head down and helmet leading.

Which in reality is the way it is taught to begin with, you can't block what you can't see. It will effect edge rushers in a 4-3 more than anyone else, but the shear number of moves used at this level, it won't even effect them as much as everyone is screaming it will.

Coach Sean Payton is the one saying that the three point stance is going away because of the helmet rule. Offensive linemen lead with their helmet on every run play they’re drive blocking on.

No, read the article instead of the headlines gidion...He said it WON'T be going away in our lifetimes...It was in reaction to the news that it would be going away due to the rule change..He issued a rebuttal to that.

(edit) A quick Google search can clear this up...

That is FLORIO's stance, not Sean Payton's

You ever play offensive or defensive line? You get pounded in the head on every run play. The NFL wants to stop that.

  19. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

What you stated was the Sean Payton SAYS it is going away... And I agree, the head pounding needs to stop, it goes both ways, leverage is what it is. This league is getting more athletic as it is..this will only strengthen that movement to more athletic linemen on both sides of the ball...

(edit) and to answer your question, no, I played CB and Wingback, not much call for a 5'8" 165lb linemen, even in high school. That doesn't change the fact that I understand the game and watch it intently. My playing days are nearly 30 years in my past, I don't think even if I had played it would be relevant to this conversation.
