there's no need to pay a dime for a top goalie right now. The team is not on the doorstep of winning a playoff round. they have 2 goalies who can fill in this fall in lyons and stolarz. they still shockingly have Elliot and Neivirth under control as well. Carter Hart and Felix Sandstrom will be on the AHL team this fall and taking over in the 19-20 season. Money is an issue, so why spend a dime on a goalie, when they have 4 who can play? Now all 4 are not capable to back this team to the Cup Finals, but the team as a whole is not ready for a Cup run either, so why get Rinne ?

 

Cant say I agree with this. If you need a goalie, you get while you can, you don't wait.

Flyers made the Playoffs and took 2 from the World Champs. That's sweet. Don't you think they are capable with the addition of a few pieces now to at least compete?

 

they still have the same 2 goalies they beat Pitt with in Elliot and Neuvirth? They will compete again with these 2 goalies. It's not like they will be in last place with Elliot and Neuvirth. Why pay for a 1 year rental when they have these 2 goalies back, 2 goalies in the AHL ready to come up in Lyons and Stolarz and Hart and Sandstrom waiting to take over full-time in 19-20 ? If the goalie waiting game was longer than 1 year, I would consider adding a goalie. For reasons I stated, there's no need to add more as they are not on the doorstep of winning the Cup and can compete with the 4 goalies they already have.
