Quarterback Greatness

Closer? No, Plunkett is eliminatedby there being multiple QBs who won more SBs, and Marino isn't eligible.

So it's like you saying Rosie O'Donnell is closer to being Miss America than Tiny Tim. While true on some level, it is a comparison that can't be made because Tiny Tim was a guy and ineligible.

Eli Manning is closer to GOAT than Steve Young... due to SY's one and done ineligibility.

Ah. Moved the goalposts. I was waiting for this. So Plunkett is eligible up to his trophy tally, but he was considered at some point in your eval. Thus, Plunkett is CLOSER to GOAT than <fill in some other All-Time Legend that did not win or play in Super Bowl here>.

Wrong, like I said perception is the key. If everybody were football experts, and judged things logically, I would agree with you, but sadly, that isn't the majority of humans or even football fans. No one talks about that other stuff in terms of greatness.

What part about the false narrative of comparing apples and oranges don't you get? Is it the same problem you have with 1 SB win not being 2 SB wins?

I'm not moving any goalposts, you are trying to with comparisons that can't be made.

Just throwing a phrase out there "moving the goalposts" doesn't actually make it true since I have maintained my 1 hit wonders ineligibilty throughout, and you can't get it thru your head.

So instead of rising ABOVE the fray, essentially you're caving to the lowest common denominator.

Could have would have should have. If "ifs" and "buts" were candy and nuts, then we'd all have a merry christmas.

Did it happen or not. If not, you are just mentally masturbating.

I didn't say they don't talk about the QBs, just they don't talk about them losing, or failing to make the divisional round. They talk about them in the context of SBs.

And no, this doesn't rank him higher, you asked about Greater, and Kizer is really ineligible, so his season is a zero, and he started as a zero and ended as a zero, while Brady who was closer(excepting his ineligibility) actually list some greatness as well as SB winning% by losing.

No, I'm just the messenger of Reality, not what should be.

This is yet another reason why I seperate "greater" and "better"

You obviously have established a criteria. Therefore, through your variables, one QB can be considered up to the point where they no longer meet YOUR standards for a continuing consideration. SB wins without a loss seems to be the ultimate rung. That leaves (2) QBs (Terry Bradshaw and Joe Montana) as the ONLY possible GOAT.

This is completely idiotic. I like you, Sol. You stir things up, especially with some of your more outlandish statements. If it helps you sleep better at night believing that a QB from your favorite team is possibly the GOAT, then have at it. But the logic is flawed... severely. And one more thing... TERRY BRADSHAW IS NOT THE GOAT.

As a Pittsburgh Steelers fan, I want it openly known that not all of us are this fucked up and attempt to make ourselves feel better with incredibly distant points of relativity for which we actually have no say or bearing. For what purpose does one do this? Not really sure.

You can repeat this as much as you want. It isn't discussed.

  13. NFL-Solomon Franchise Player Steelers

I have already said TB is not the GOAT. Putting words (lies) in my mouth doesn't strengthen your case.

  14. NFL-Solomon Franchise Player Steelers

Additionally, I have presented a logical and consistent framework for GOAT, that nothing here has dispelled, based on accomplishment, and the part most of you keep forgetting ... perception.

As a Steeler fan, I want it known, that unlike firehalo, I can count up to 2 and understand the word "ineligible"

I see wadded panties are not only restricted to the political section.

One hit wonders and losers are eliminated. Pretty simple.

I don't agree with it but I won't whine like a pathetic little cry baby bitch about it.

I think Tom Brady is the GOAT.

My method for determining this is because I said so.

    You're welcome.

REALITY or PERCEPTION? And don't give me the Lee Atwater hooey.

You want to be an "expert," then play to REALITY, and not what the masses perceive.

  18. NFL-Solomon Franchise Player Steelers

    No.
"Perception is reality. If you are perceived to be something, you might as well be it because that's the truth in people's minds." -Steve Young

Since greatness is a product of perception of people, it would be idiotic to ignore it.

  19. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

By you...because you CHOOSE to ignore that which isn't fitting into your narrative.

  20. AxeMurderer Legend Cowboys

Steve Young? You mean, the one-hit wonder is pontificating on greatness?

Why don't you use your alleged expertise to influence the REALITY people perceive instead of feeding into the pablum they're already swallowing?
