1. Yes, you are right. 2. BWHA-HA-HA, "Elway: one of the greatest QBs ever" BWHA-HA-HA-HA Most overrated maybe, greatest, LOL!
Elway is Top-10 GOAT... easy. I’d trust Elway to win the game more than I would Peyton Manning. Especially in a meaningful game.
What game is more meaningful than the Super Bowl? Peyton may be a pedestrian 0.500 in the Super Bowl, but Elway is a pathetic 0.400, so reality says you would have picked wrong.
How many "one and done" performances in the playoffs for Elway when his team was favored? Elway was a damn good QB
Elway carried some pretty crappy teams to the SB by crappy I mean he didnt have much help dont come back telling me what their records were
Does he really believe that the Steelers should not prepare for life without him. He is 36 most QBs careers end before their fortieth birthday meaning 2-4 years he will be out of the league. Hopefully he steps up his game so we don’t wind up with a QB controversy.
He was just talking of retiring last offseason and now he is talking how the Steelers took a QB instead of someone to help now. Well they need someone to help soon if you leave. Plus it was awesome value.
Elway, was a "good" QB. What he wasn't was Great. Great doesn't lose Super Bowls, which is why Montana, who never even threw an interception in a Super Bowl, is Great, and Elway is not. And if you weren't old enough to actually have seen Elway single handedly losing 2 of the 3 Super Bowls, by throwing bad interceptions and then come off the field smiling, check out the stat sheets and see how he has one of the bottom passer ratings of all time in one.
I will say there is one area, Elway was great, his ability to scramble. Too bad that that's only one tiny piece of being a QB.
Early on maybe. Then he is very, very disrespected because everyone is so pissy he was overhyped in the first half of his career. From overrated to underrated.
Pah. He went from being an out of control gunsliger to a sedate efficient game manager. Everyone who know anything about football knows Terrell Davis won Elway his Super Bowls.
@NFL-Solomon I couldn't disagree with you more. Elway was great, period. That's not just my opinion, but about every QB list ever compiled by various media and networks... even the HOF thinks so. 5 SB appearances speak for themselves also. I grew up watching him play... he wasn't perfect, but I look at the sum of all the things he did, not necessarily how he did them. LAOJoe knows plenty about football, by the way.
The Elway argument is one that will last through the tests of time. I'm already done with it for now. But I'll add one thing. Davis was that key last piece for sure. IMHO if it wasn't for his really bad injury luck he'd be the greatest RB of all time. But he's also lucky to have Elway because I wonder if he gets in the Hall if he was on an inferior team.
