Maybe it's pronounced "DAH-dee"? Cleveland Browns official Twitter called him a DE. 235 pounds? That's an OLB.
He played DE at Virginia Tech and was listed as an OLB while with the Chiefs. He was kind of an odd player to scout in that his tape would have suggested a more athletic profile than what he posted at the combine and he has to rely on athleticism because of his body type. He was a long shot to make it as a true 3-4 OLB but as a 4-3 LB he has a much better chance at success.
Not a blockbuster, but that seems strange. Telfer represents us at the draft, calling out our 3rd round pick, and then a couple days later, he's sent to Kansas City (?)...."Okay thanks for your contribution Randall, see ya."
Not sure why this had to come through from NFL Canada, but makes me jazzed about Carlos Hyde next season.
Telfer represented us as our 2017 Walter Payton Man of the Year winner for the Browns...Winning that reward, certainly doesn't preclude him to being traded almost immediately following the draft. It was just an honor for him to be recognized for winning the award.
Anecdote from a Baker Mayfield article (here): Reminder that the Browns have had the worst General Managers in football since returning to the NFL. Dwight Clark Butch Davis (saving grace, best coach since The Return) Phil Savage George Kokinis Tom Heckert Mike Lombardi Ray Farmer John Dorsey and Sashi Brown are - no joke - the best two General Managers we've had since the team came back.
^^^^^ And it turns out the best pick since 1999 (Joe Thomas) was luck. Best/Worst Pick for each former GM (limiting to first three rounds): Dwight Clark: Tim Couch / Gerard Warren Butch Davis: Kellen Winslow / Chaun Thompson Phil Savage: Joe Thomas (luck) / Brady Quinn George Kokinis: Alex Mack / David Veikune Tom Heckert: Josh Gordon / Brandon Weeden Mike Lombardi: none / Barkevious Mingo Ray Farmer: Joel Bitonio / Justin Gilbert Sashi Brown: Myles Garrett / DeShone Kizer
Good write up on Browns draft from Peter King; https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/05/03/c...l&utm_campaign=themmqb&utm_source=twitter.com
Looking at the still image at the beginning of the video on the top of the link, I noticed that the font that "BROWNS" was written in on the draft board was different than usual. I also saw today, that the rookie's helmets are missing stripes (gotta earn your stripes rook). Could these be isolated incidents, or is the team slowly putting out feelers for public reactions to changes for their next re-brand?
The Browns are indeed looking to rebrand again and I bet it is feelers. They can't officially change anything yet as the league has a policy of waiting a certain amount of years before you can do so again.
Right, its 5 years for a re-brand/re-design, however, small tweeks can be made like adding or removing an outline or stripe, changing the facemask color.
https://brownswire.usatoday.com/2018/05/03/jamar-taylors-browns-days-could-be-numbered/ ^^^I expected this to happen. Don't know what his real world value is, but I couldn't give that bum away for a 7th round pick swap in the mock...lol! Lord knows I tried.
I don't doubt he could be a final cuts casualty, but he's been rumored to be on the way out since mid-December I feel like. Of course, that was also coming from Mary Kay Clickbait who fangirled over Josh Allen so hard she refused to accept Baker was even a possibility. The article also talks about Gregggggg Williams wanting to use more press - which is fine - except last season he played his corners in zone more than any other defensive coordinator and that's not unique - he was doing the same thing in Los Angeles, despite being known as a "press man" guy. Taylor is ill-suited to be a perimeter cover man, but he certainly could play in the slot. And yes, while Briean Boddy-Calhoun is one of the best slot guys in the business: (1) injury can wreck a secondary quickly, and (2) Gregggggg Williams has said he might experiment with Boddy-Calhoun at FS - and at the very least, a backup to Damarious Randall.
The Browns and about 6 other teams have a mini-camps starting today....At 4pm on NFL Network we should get our first look at the Browns rookies. Hopefully...
