Less people have heard of Feldman's perpetrator too. That also has some bearing. Its not fair but that's how it goes.
I cant remember for sure and would have to do some looking but maybe Feldman's character had been torpedoed before he started talking about it.
Or maybe its the fact that when Feldman came forward nobody else did. They all stayed back unlike this time when the floodgates opened.
After a quick search or two it looks like the earliest Feldmen tried to do any outing was in 93 while he was being questioned about Micheal Jackson. According to Feldmen he at that time gave the names of molesters to the authorities (they deny any names were given) by then he had already been arrested twice for Heroin possession which would lend support to the theory his character was already shot when he came forward. Think about it though if he did give names in 93 and they had followed up on it would change have come to the industry? If so how many would have been spared?
Good point about heroin shading his character. You're right, Feldman gave names, but it wasn't the names the cops were wanting to hear at the time. #SmoothCriminal
Amazing how tapes get lost in some cases. A call made by the zodiac Killer to the Police was lost and I think it too popped up several years later.
still unsolved. the movie ZODIAC with Mark Ruffalo, Robert Downey Jr. and Jake Gyllenhaal was one of the best movies I've seen in the last 25 yrs.
So I actually got to see the effects of the Metoo movement recently. I work in a conference center and every year we have a bookfest put on by our local library, Barns and Nobel and the university Library. Every year they bring in a few head liner authors as well as some local authors. In the past we have had Nicolas Sparks, Herny Winkler, Charlaine Harris, and Terry brooks to name a few. This year the headliner was supposed to Daniel Handler (pen name Lemony Snicket). He however had to cancel because he has been swept up in the movement for sexually inappropriate jokes and a racially insensitive joke. Personally everything I saw that has been outed is trivial and just stupid that the world has become to PC. So of course with no headliner we had a smaller crowd but it was still a fun event just a shame when something IMHO gets caught up int he movement that really has no business being in the movement. For those wondering the jokes included Daniel told another author he though she was from the midwest then yelled at her from another table during an event are "you a virgin also" Then while at Young Adult readers event when another author introduced Daniel to their spouse he made the joke "you know how these young adult author conventions are they all end up in an orgy" The racially insensitive joke had to do with Jacqueline Woodson (an African American author). She won the National Book Award for Young People's Literature and Daniel at the presentation of her award made a joke about the fact he found out she was allergic to watermelon and that she should put that in a book. That he himself would not be allowed to put a African American character in a book and have them allergic to watermelon but that she could get away with it.
I don't know Gid. Like Catfish said the watermelon thing is poor form. And what was with yelling "are you a virgin also" from a different table at an event? That's just odd public behavior. And what's that have to do with being from the Midwest? I think they have sex in the Midwest. Again pretty poor form is you ask me. Even if he has a relationship with both of these people that things like this can be said in jest, there is still a time and a place for it. Neither of these comments bother me personally, however I'm a middle aged white guy so wtf do I know.
Well when I told 2 black sorry African American coworkers about the watermelon joke they laughed and said sounds like the guy has a sense of humor. Granted both of them are male and thus are likely to have the juvenile humor gene that all men have. Was it in bad taste sure but hey if we have to start crucifying people for bad taste there wont be anything left to watch on TV, the radio, or even read.
Just yankin your chain. But I didn't lie. I haven't watched radio since they cancelled the Amos and Andy Show. Oh, wait . . . . .
I have a friend who takes offense of how a black person is assumed to be "African-American". He is white and is actually an African-American. He was born in South Africa and is white. So in reality it is actually more appropriate to call a person black, because we don't know where his ancestors came from. While my friend is never called an African-American, he is called white.
Back in the 80s, I had a boom box that could pick up MTVs signal. We didn’t have MTV as a tv station (in our cable package) yet.
