this is by far the best part of the draft for me. move over Jason Kelce, because David Akers just out did you in the speech category !
The Texans didn’t draft any running backs this year, which may have helped pave the way for them to turn back to veteran Alfred Blue. Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports that Blue is returning to the Texans on a one-year contract. Blue was a 2014 sixth-round pick and became a free agent when the league year opened in March. Blue ran 71 times for 262 yards and a touchdown last year, his lowest workload in four NFL seasons. He’d run the ball at least 100 times in each of his first three years with the team. The bulk of his work out of the backfield came after D'Onta Foreman went down with a torn Achilles in Week 11 and his spot on the depth chart behind Lamar Miller will likely be tied to how quickly Foreman is able to return to action in 2018.
Shad Khan wants the Super Bowl at Wembley Stadium... ___________ __________________________ Well good for him... people in hell want ice water too! What a joke.
NEVER!!!! That's sacrilege BS right there!! No way could you move the greatest game on earth to foreign soil. Maybe in 20 years when there are multiple teams in Europe (If that ever happened, which I have my doubts. I think the London experiment will end badly). But, not while Wembley Stadium is in it's peak condition. That is decades away from happening!
What’s next? Der Bundesleague championship game in Boise Idaho? Honestly, it doesn’t matter where it’s played. It is good for the NFL to reach for global exposure and it is FIRST and FOREMOST, a business. I typically watch the game on tv anyways ... so why should I give a fuck about where it is played? Wembley is a good stadium with international appeal. I’m really ambivalent on this topic.
well, it then forces American fans to travel overseas to watch the game live, plus hotel lodgings and car rentals. THe UK is different than a US sports city in that regard. Could they be prepared for the onslaught of 75,000 fans coming to their city and airport ? my 2 brothers went to see the Eagles in Minnesota and watch the SB this year. I doubt they would fly to England to watch it.
Looks like Dallas could have had Earl Thomas for their 2nd round pick. seattletimes.com/sports/seahawks/report-cowboys-wouldnt-give-up-a-second-round-pick-for-earl-thomas/
THAT said, the deal may not be completely off the table: http://www.espn.com/blog/dallas/cow...homas-dream-might-not-be-over-yet-for-cowboys
Terence Newman says this will be his final season Terence Newman is no Tom Brady. One season in his 40s is enough for him. The veteran cornerback, who signed a one-year deal to return to the Vikings yesterday, said during a conference call that his 16th season was going to mark his farewell. “I think this will be my last year no matter what happens,’’ Newman said, via Chris Tomasson of the St. Paul Pioneer Press. Newman will turn 40 in September, and will be the oldest active defensive player in the league. “After 15 years, I’ve soaked as much as I can in,” he said. “It’s been a heck of a ride. I understand when it’s time for me. I’m not going to put an onus on doing anything special.” Simply walking on the field counts as something special, since he’s been playing since he was the fifth overall pick in the 2003 draft. The fifth pick in this year’s draft, Bradley Chubb, was 7 years old when that happened. Newman joined the Vikings in 2015, and has also played with the Cowboys and Bengals, working with coach Mike Zimmer at both stops along the way. (PFT)
Considering that so many Superbowl tickets are now corporate perks, you could argue that the game has already been taken away from us. It's hard to picture it being worthwhile for London or Mexico City or Tokyo to shell out the bucks that it would take to persuade the league to hold it elsewhere. But I'm already over the notion that "our game" would be taken away from us. That happened long ago.
Here's the difference, Minneapolis is a football and baseball city..I would imagine 90% of the adults in and around the city are football fans, in particular, Vikings fans. Take that ratio to London, and I would drop that number to probably 15-20% American football fans...so to THAT city, it's just a bunch of westerners invading their city and country for THEIR championship game. Most of them could care less. Until London has a NFL team, I don't see this happening...Now, Khan might have plans for that to happen sooner than later, we shall see.
Wembley sells out for a regular season NFL game. From an article today... The good news for the NFL is that its London fan base is big enough that games at Wembley Stadium sell out quickly. The bad news is there’s a growing perception among the UK fan base that the NFL is a greedy interloper fixated on maximizing profits while pricing out average fans. Tickets for two games at Wembley Stadium went on sale yesterday, and the NFL announced early today that the Eagles-Jaguars game on October 28 has already sold out, while the Titans-Chargers game a week earlier has only “very limited single tickets available.” If you want to read the full article it’s on Yahoo.
I still consider NFL football in England a bloody gimmick. Its just a spectacle to them. The NFL loves to play marketing games in order to increase popularity and bilk more millions/billions. After utilizing most all the assets and resources State-side, what better place to attack than England to attract the European market into investments? This is an American game and the Super Bowl is major, major revenue for a particular city and teams in the US. Stretching that outside of the US is being braindead on the NFL's part. As I eluded to in a previous post... The NFL's Super Bowl better stay home and this talk of playing it overseas is just rubbish. I don't mean to offend our English and Euro visitors to this site, I just feel this strongly at the moment. I'm open minded and willing to listen to pro's and con's on the subject. I'm not much in to this globalization that's been taking place in recent years. I believe that stretching things out in an attempt to globalize will lead to complete failures and the destruction of the NFL as we know it. That's my 2 cents at the moment... but, I am considering raising me prices!!!11!!!
For years everyone that loves American football has wanted the rest of the world to realize that American football is better than their soccer style football. How the fuck are we going to prove American football is better if they can’t watch it?
Agreed. Unless and until there's expansion by the NFL into foreign countries (Canada, Mexico, Great Britain), then no-go on them hosting a Super Bowl.
