I agree w/ TD and Lym here. One of the things I loved about Joe Thomas was that he told everyone he was going fishin on draft day and not pandering to the masses.

Let the show with Mayfield begin and end on the field. That will be more fun and exciting.

Not sure I'm comprehending what your trying to say Dog.

I applaud Baker for staying home and being with the people who supported him throughout.

I'm more interested in seeing the product on the field, rather than watch some dog and pony show.

Im excited for the upcoming year. However, that seems to be the case every season. Every coaching change. Every regime change. Rinse. Repeat. Ad Nauseum.

I know I've said this before, but this time it seems different. Don't get me wrong, I have little faith in Hue, but a little more than last season due to Haley calling the plays. I think John Dorsey has an edge, an attitude, that the team has not seen in...well...I cant even draw a comparison. Anyone that refers to themselves as "Mr Dorsey" to other grown ass men must have a set. Having the law firm of Wolfe, Highsmith, Mcloughlin under him isn't too bad either. An overall well respected group of guys, the likes of which the city hasn't seen since Bellicheck was in town (and at the time all the guys were still making names for themselves, so its not apples to apples comparison).

I cant wait to see how the weapons are utilized. Sam's estimate of ball distribution was pretty interesting.

The roster still has some question marks. Im interested to see what becomes of Jamar Taylor and Randal Telfer. I thought I would see them gone for conditional picks on draft weekend. If we could trade Kevin freaking Hogan then they should be able to get something in return for those guys. I was listening to a local show last night and the host was talking about how bad the Texans need corners..maybe they could be a fit?

Is it too early to start estimating the final 53?

Looks like Mr. Dorsey needs to keep a keen eye on the waiver wire during training camp cutdowns for some OLB help.

Not only do I think over, but I'd suggest getting that bet in now...Look for that number to go up in preseason.

 

We talked about QBASE during the lead-up to the draft. This has some more data (and odds) on this year's crop of QBs.

Dogside, you mirror my own feelings about how I get excited about the season ever year. It does feel different, but I think I've also felt that before, so I don't really trust that feeling. Still............

As for Dorsey; I see that a couple ways. #1 I see him making it very clear that Hue's position is diminished. Yeah, he's still the HC, but you can see it written all over his face, he's reporting to Dorsey. #2 He's a little arrogant. Fine if things work out, but disaster if they don't .

For better or for worse, I believe Dorsey is going to do it "his way". The committee rule is out. His confidantes were not in the building last year, and I think he's prepared to replace Hue at the drop of a hat, and I think Hue can feel that. I do worry that Dorsey will work around Hue through his assistants, and that IMO would create a very bad situation, where leadership is fractured.

I'm very interested in how that part of the equation unfolds. As much as I don't like Hue's leadership, based on the last two years, I'm hoping he can re-make himself as a true Head Coach, but my faith in that is weak. Putting Hue "on the clock" could derail what I believe should be a very positive season.

If I'm reading Dorsey, he's probably made it clear to Hue what his expectations are, and has shared that with Slam, so there should be no misunderstanding about what needs to be done. I hope that Dorsey has also promised to stay in "his lane" too, and won't be trying to make coaching decisions either.

It feels precarious. That's my worst fear. What are the odds Hue can reach the goals Dorsey has put in place, and keep his job next year? Seems unlikely, and I'm sure Dorsey has candidates already in mind for the next HC.

Excitement and Worry. It must be Browns football.
