Well, if ever there was a reason NOT to do something...there it is...

Maybe I will just get one of these instead:

What's crazy to me is the amount of people that have been hammering Baekr for not being at the draft. The same people had no issue with Joe Thomas fishing with his dad on draft day, but used the same thing just because they already didn't like Mayfield.

I know, but I'm one of the schmucks that believe in sports curses...this thing feels real...I don't know if I can do it. At the same time, I feel like if anyone can break this curse, it's Mayfield!

    They'll come around.

Like it or not... this isn't DeShone Kizer, or Charlie Frye, or Colt McCoy. This organization invested the #1 overall pick in a player. They're going to ride-or-die with Mayfield and he will likely survive this staff if changes are made down the road.

Tim Couch had five seasons with Cleveland.

David Carr had five seasons with Houston until they killed him.

Carson Palmer had eight seasons with Cincinnati before he quit on them.

Alex Smith had seven-and-a-half seasons with San Francisco before they traded him and started a promising back-up.

JaMarcus Russell - the biggest draft bust of all time - had three seasons with Oakland.

Sam Bradford - who was/is terrible - had 4-and-changes seasons with St. Louis.

Andrew Luck - who cannot play the position - is entering his seventh year with Indianapolis and has survived three general managers and three head coaches in that time.

We're going to have Baker around for at least 4-5 seasons.

List of the jerseys I still have in circulation:

    - Winslow #80
    - Edwards #17
    - Hillis #40
    - Thomas #73 (Nike)

I don't have a great track record, either.

So let me begin by saying... he's a punk and needs to straighten up.

That said... *this* guy might be able to play on Sundays:

The other thing that really stands out from his videos... Florida has garbage quarterbacks.

It's more about the timing of my buys SAS... My first jersey was a Greg Pruitt generic jersey, it only had the number, not his name...I finally talked my parents into getting me the real thing, that was his last season in Cleveland...They did feel bad for me that Pruitt left soon after I got my jersey, so they replaced it with a Brian Sipe Jersey...Yep, you guessed it. Then, I went through high school wearing that jersey. My parents didn't waste money on things like football jerseys any more. I always had Browns gear, but it wasn't "cool" to wear jerseys to high school in the 80's. Turned up pink and purple collars were more my forte.

Anyway, my next foray into jerseys was not too long after I left Kent State and got married, finally, I'm an adult with a real job and money...So, my first real Browns purchase was a Bernie Kosar jersey...makes sense, right? That was in 1993...Let's just say, I had it JUST too long to not be able to return it for a Cowboys #18 (which I purchased anyway, because I was so pissed that they released him).

So, then, I acknowledged the Browns curse... When they returned, I didn't buy a jersey...until my wonderful wife bucked the super natural and got me that Winslow jersey... I returned another jersey the next day after another gift a couple years after, I honestly don't even remember the player, but my sister always made fun of me and got me one for a birthday...yes, the same sister that ignored my pleas and bought my daughter the Haden jersey...

This is a substantial enough list. Now, for the record, I acknowledge most of these players were well into their careers when I got the jersey..but Winslow was the one that really put it over the top for me. He was young and ready to take on the world...well, until I got his jersey anyway..

So I love Highsmith's candor... but can we stop trashing other teams' quarterbacks?

Just don't want to deal with the "we don't view him as a Top 20 quarterback" blow-back again.

Most of us ignore the "blow back".

I like hearing the "why" from someone with his stature. It tells me that I'm not insane as an amateur in making some of the evaluations that I do based on things that we aren't able to measure. These things DO matter to the professionals.

(edit) for the record, I don't think it he really "trashed" the others, he was giving reasoning to his "ranking"...This was his 3rd and 5th ranked QB, so I really don't think it was that relevant anyway. The ranking alone tells you where he stands on them as prospects. Also, no trashing of Darnold, he was "The Man" until Baker "The Real Man" changed his mind. This was simply a small look into the mind of a professional and how his scouting mind works.

Just get it customized with Velcro in place for the number and name plate. Then you can just go with the player du jour and keep up to date with any future roster turnover and only have to purchase replacement names and numbers.

    :p

Yeah and if I tried to outrun that one, we would be filling the roster in with guys off the street because they would be dropping as fast as I could change the name plate..no thank you, I don't want to be the single entity to taking down the Browns once and for all...

I swore after Trent Richardson I'd NEVER buy another Browns jersey, and I plan to stick to it....

Does anybody know what number Denzel Ward will wear? (asking for a friend)

Not to put too fine a point on it, but...

Cleveland Browns, New York Giants, New York Jets, Denver Broncos, Arizona Cardinals, and New England Patriots all *CONFIRMED* had Baker Mayfield as QB1 - at a minimum.

Or, as I prefer to say it:

Yeah I haven't really heard that, but the ones griping about Mayfield not being at the draft need to get some perspective. Like Lyman mentioned earlier. Baker chose to be with the ones that have been through it all with him in that moment. What is wrong with that? Nothing at all. It's his dream come true. Let him play it the way he wants to play it...

I can’t believe how selfish Mayfield was when he chose to stay home with people who really love him and care about him instead of choosing to be a part of the show, just for the show’s sake. sO sElFiSh! How dare he not share himself with everyone. Amazing ... the irony.
