Bears, Broncos, Browns, Chargers, Cowboys, Giants, Packers, Patriots and Redskins are all teams that have a shot at ending up in my top 3 grades for this class. The Panthers, Bengals, Chiefs and Saints will likely fight it out for the last 3, but New Orleans may be locked in by giving up that future first to move up for Davenport.
If he stays healthy he has a shot. I like his ability to get full extension and retain strong hands in the red zone. When you can get vertical like he can and utilize long limbs for all of their reach it makes for big time mismatches against shorter CBs in tight spaces.
I wouldn't go quite that far, but they did have one helluva draft. The Redskins really maximized their picks and the Chargers and Broncos both did really well at sitting in their spot and snagging players that should have went earlier.
You go ahead and focus on perceived value. I'm going by what team actually got players that will help them win games. That, afterall, is the whole purpose of the draft, right?
Tell you what, Tim. Lets compare draft position in 2019 to 2018. You name the stakes, I'll the Giants. Even with them playing in the same division as the Redskins, Cowboys and defending World Champion Eagles.
After what he did? I'll die being pissed off at that idiot. He hand wrapped a gift for the Giants who then proceeded to grab an interior line road grader on the next pick. He loaded up with CB's in free agency and then burns the #4 pick on . . . a CB. He needed an insurance policy for Josh Gordon in a mid round. Who does he pick? Another WR who's been suspended and failed a drug test at the combine! And, OBTW, the safest pick was taken a few spots later after Josh Gordon V2.0. He needed a replacement for a retired HOF tackle and gets . . . a swiss army knife lineman who (allegedly) can play all offensive line positions. Smells a lot like Cam Irving. This just in . . . if a guy can play all five o-line positions, he can't play any one of them really good. Its one thing to pooch a pick here and there. This idiot stepped on his own dick round after round!
When did Lym turn into Stopper? lol! geez.. So because somebody said our O-line prospect is versatile, you quickly tag him "Cam Erving and wasted pick"???? lol! If that's not a showstopper take, wth is? Gimme a break with that bullshit... JFTR: Anyone that thought the Browns were going to take anything other than QB at #1 was in denial.....Settling for what is left is not how you get your franchise guy...Newsflash; This is the NFL - a quarterback driven league... After we selected Mayfield, our biggest needs were OT and CB...Sorry the Browns didn't do the draft to you exact specs, but I can't fathom why you thought they would, if it included passing on QB at #1. That was NEVER going to happen...Seems like the Browns had one opportunity to make you happy, and that was over after the first pick. So then it became bitching and moaning on every selection, including the one (Avery) that you seemed to not hate...smh. Could the possibility exist that you got a little to caught up in your own rankings? I think so. More than anyone I've ever seen in my life, quite honestly... Anybody still bitching about the Denzel Ward pick, should watch this: (guaranteed to make ya better) It'll be okay..
Apologies for the stopper reference Lym...It's been 4 days of this...Just pissing on Dorsey and his draft is getting really annoying...Nobody thinks it's as bad as you act, or even close to that...From what I've read and heard, Dorsey is getting solid reviews.
Let me ask you a question, @TopDawg , How much of an impact will Baker Mayfield (or any other rookie QB) have on improving the Browns' dreadful 1-31 record in 2019? Answer: NONE. Unless, of course you're going to start the inevitable pounding the table to start the rookie over a legit starting veteran QB that is already on the roster. Don't like my opinion? Then just go back to the land of unicorns and confetti and high five the rest of the sheep on the Browns board.
No offense taken. Stopper admits that Modell turned him into a troll. John Dorsey may have done that to me.
So was it rhetorical? lol! IMO you embarrass Browns fans on these boards with all your negativity and ridiculous snap judgements...I wish you would keep it on the Browns boards. We could have a special little thread just for you and stopper to turn the Browns on blast every fuckin day...
lol! You aren't on an island at all. You are quite typical actually... There are plenty of pessimistic Browns fans that bitch and moan about everything...I think this is why we rarely see eye to eye....I'm actually a lot like John Dorsey in my thinking. What mock GM is the most apt to roll the dice on talented red flagged players? I think if you polled all the mock GM's, I'd win that hands down...Because like I mentioned earlier in the thread, talent trumps everything at certain value points. I know you wanted the Browns to take the nice safe WR from PSU in the 4th, but Dorsey would rather take a gamble on a first round talent, and I love it. If it doesn't payoff, your only out a 4th round pick. If it does, you might get a real game changer in the middle of the draft...Sometimes you gotta just grab your ballsack and go for it. I appreciate that mentality ANY day over safe and conservative....
