I think was draft so far was....nice.
LOL I was mocking someone from earlier, but apparently it went unnoticed. Sigh. My delivery isn't as good as it used to be.

So who you guys like in the 5th. Johnny Wannabe from East Jabrew Tech? I knew who Oakafer was , the 15th rated OT in the draft and a more polished tackle was taken right after that pick. :chuks:

But I give you Chris Hubbard, Undrafted, now a starting NFL RT with a nice contract. Kid worked his ass off and Munchak can flat out coach. Hubbard could start for 20 teams. I think the Oakefer puck was early but maybe in this draft you grab a project with a high ceiling over a guy like Josie Jewel who is already @ his ceiling. :notes:

I hope I'm wrong, but the Rudolph pick reminds me of the Landry Jones pick. The only difference I can see so far is round 3 to round 4. Most of the posters are happy this time compared to when Jones was picked.

I’m curious to see how bad the ratings share for ESPN are this year. FOX teaming up with NFL Network was brilliant. My reasoning is I hope their rating share is alarmingly low and it’s anither nail in the coffin for those phuccers.

Me personally I hated the Jones pick, still do ,. He’ll always be “Duck Chucking Jones “ to
    Me.

I hope they look at the DT from UConn, kid can flat out play. Not going to try and spell his name here is his combine tape

I remember ny. I think most of the criticism from other posters was the Steelers had needs more than QB and trading up "wasting" the pick when there were some talented defensive players still on the board.

Any chance the Steelers address LB in free agency? Or is there someone out there that is a sleeper?

I actually thought ESPN coverage showed improvement this year. The addition of Herbstreit was excellent, and Louis Riddick is outstanding, and now that Todd McChay is doing games during the regular season on the sideline, he's bringing in more personal game experience to the evaluations. Overall improved. But yeah, I get that you all hate Mel.

I've watched these drafts too many years to not recognize these teams are light years ahead of the bloggers and fans. It's fun to psuedo scout and form an opinion but there's a reason Edmunds went in the 1st and Reid went in the 3rd. And the reason is the teams employ professionals to evaluate these kids - dozens of experts.

If they had a 4th round pick maybe they wait till then to make this pick. Maybe he was someone Munchak targeted so they picked him up a little early.

Don’t like the Rudolph pick much, don’t see him as the heir apparent to Ben like some do. I am glad of where they got him though, some projected him in the 1st so the team got good value even if he does become the next Landry Jones.

Say what you will about our draft, at least we aren't the Raiders right now. Jeebus.

If you think about it we got great value with Landry Jones in the 4th round. He was and still is a decent back up which many teams don't have. I would love to see Mason Rudolph develop under Ben the next couple of years. He is smart, tall, and very accurate even with the long ball. I watched him a lot over the years since I am a Texas Tech grad. He is a good quarterback and is great at seeing the whole field while making adjustments when necessary. He likes to hold the ball perhaps a little to long and will fumble. I love that he is accurate!!!! He will do well in the NFL level and hope he somehow pull off an Aaron Rodgers. I like the pick and he could be the future.

Last year I was ecstatic when they picked up JuJu in the 2nd. I had watched all his games since I am a huge USC fan because of family. He literally never dropped a pass. I couldn't of predicted he would of done so well as a rookie last year though. He will not have a Sophmote slump and should crack the 1,000 yard barrier.

James Washington is a college stud. I was excited about the pick because I actually had the chance to watch him play. He is sure handed like JuJu and will fight a defender to come down with the catch like JuJu as well. I love players who can catch and secure the ball and we have another one. My only concern is that he played in a piss poor pass happy Big 12 conference and I don't know how this will translate in the NFL. I think overall this was a great pick. It's funny to watch someone who looks like a running back catch the ball as well as this kid does. I think we grabbed another JuJu.

Lastly, I can't watch another season where any team can run the ball with ease against this less than stellar Steeler defense. I can only hope Jon Bostic can fill the void. They still need another stud inside linebacker or they will suck again on defense. The Steelers simply don't have the depth at that position and will be exposed. The Ryan Shazier injury will haunt this franchise and I have no clue why they aren't addressing it now at the draft. Do something Steelers! Anything! Frickin trade Bell or something for an INSIDE linebacker. The Steelers can't afford him and be a contender.

    Best,
    JMac

The Steelers use their first of two picks in the 5th round on

    Marcus Allen FS, Penn St.
    Height: 6-2 Weight: 202

    Draft Prospect Outlook:

Long, explosive athlete. Not overly decisive, but when he is, he can get to the ball in a hurry. Medicore. Could stand to add some muscle to help him in run support. Slower play-recognition than you'd like to see from a super-experienced safety. Size, athleticism specimen.

Two safeties? Just ended Dangerfield’s and Wilcox’s tenure in Pittsburgh.

Another guy who visited with the Steelers.

I'm guessing we'll see mostly defense today.

I wish we would of gone with the Memphis ILB, but oh well.
