Would have preferred a tackle but Bears interior offensive line should be really good moving forward.
I disagree, a bit. I mean I picked him as a riser. Ironically, he's the guy I replaced Frank Ragnow with. So I actually improved my results that way (not scoring wise). I like the pick. But the one negative I noticed on tape with Braden Smith was he struggles a bit in space to locate his blocks. Powerful guy. Just not super balanced on the move. Should help our interior run game. And I suppose if the RB sets up the defenders well enough, he can just use Smith's body as a weapon and do half the work for him in the screen game. I like both picks all in all. Obviously Ballard isn't fucking around when it comes to protecting Luck. I'm starting to get excited imagining a starting interior of Quenton Nelson - Ryan Kelly - Braden Smith That's a physical group right there.
Wait until tomorrow when they get 10 picks behind announcing picks compared to the actual team on the clock.
Everyone not named Anthony Castonzo. But to list them, possibly Jack Mewhort (more of a health thing in his case), Jeremy Vujnovich, Joe Haeg, Denzelle Good, Le'Raven Clark. I almost wonder if they might be planning to try Braden Smith at RT. It's not a settled position. We re-signed Mewhort, and signed Matt Slauson as an FA. So we're impressively deep (competitive) at guard now. Obviously somebody is getting cut.
