Watching some tape of Rudolph and Washington. They both look really good. Washington should get that number three look in our offense this season. Rudolph should be our number one backup QB. Jones and Dobbs fight it out for the do not dress QB. Not sure about this overall draft but Rudolph and Washington should be stars ⭐️ in this league. I’m hoping that Edmonds shoulder injury is healed and he returns to the form that they saw on film from his 2016 season. I wasn’t happy with the Bryant trade until the pick turned into Mason Rudolph.

 

Only way Rudolph dresses is if they cut Landry, and that would go against previous trends. The Steelers like to keep a veteran backup, so Jones likely is safe. However if Rudolph comes in and is lights out, they may decide to go with the rookie as the top backup. I think Landry is safe this year and Rudolph and Dobbs battle for the 3rd spot which means bye bye Dobbs. Hope he puts enough good tape to grab another job.

 

Then cut Landry. He can’t take us to the SB and our defense needs to be carried so they can’t help him either. Rudolph should be our number two period. I want Rudolph and Dobbs getting all the snaps this preseason.

 

Let's be clear, Ben misses significant time this team is screwed. Neither Jones, Rudolph or Dobbs is leading this team to the Super Bowl. But if Ben goes down, Jones all day this year until Rudolph shows command of the playbook.

 

After the preseason we will revisit this. I have no reason to believe that Rudolph won’t easily displace Jones. You don’t know what Rudolph can do as far as post season goes, but I feel there is hope with Rudolph if Ben was injured. Jones sucks so bad he couldn’t lead the Steelers to even hold a lead against the Bengals.
