Steelers Draft and Mel Kiper sucks thread!!

Depends on what they do with it. I’ll withhold judgment for now.

 

I think it was another reach(around) to have a 3rd round pick since they didn’t have one coming into the draft

 

I'm telling you Bud Foster is a top 3 DC in the country and they dont have Bama type talent....this kid will be disciplined and have a great understanding of the game....I'm not saying I expected the pick, but they needed a safety and obviously he was rated higher than Reid

 

Edmunds is a ball hawk solid pick but a reachacroo. Still not as bad as the 49ers wetting the bed with McGlinchey at 9. My highest rated player was Will
Hernandez OG UTEP well above Guice and Reid. I’ve learned one thing because the consensus is guy X is a second rounder they’re not working for that team’s scouting department.

For all the hype Guice got, it was the explosive Penney And the shifty Michel who went before him.

Bryant was a toke away from suspension . They had no 4th now they added an early-mid third . 3 picks tomorrow : ILB, WR, & best guess CB/RB. Gisecki won’t make it to 60, bank On it.

Justin Reid
DeShon Elliot
Jessie Bates III

 

I am perplexed by this pick. He's probaly going to be a solid player in year two maybe year one. Could they not find anyone to trade down with? I assume they were stuck reaching for this player because I am fairly certain their goal initially was not to draft this kid in the first round. I was really hoping for a inside linebacker because our run defense really stunk late last year. (Well, so did our pass defense.) Maybe we will find a gem in rounds two and three. Can anyone help me with the thinking behind this move as Firehalo mentioned they were three other safeties they could of grabbed at a later time? I don't get the thought process! Please help since the am completely stumped.

I am not upset at all about the M. Bryant trade! Good move because Bryant is a nut job and emulates negatively in the locker room IMHO. Hope we find a receiver via draft or anywhere who can contribute immediately?

 

This might be a dumb thought. Is there any chance the Steelers sign Dez Bryant to a one year deal? I still think he has talent but had problems with Dak Prescott. He wants a one year deal to prove his value for a multi year deal in the future. He had great chemistry with Romo and assume Big Ben would love to throw him the ball. Just thinking.... Would anyone like to see Dez in the black and gold?

I didn't like the pick until I heard Colbert talk about how he hurt his shoulder prior to the season and played with a brace until he simply couldn't handle it any longer. I'm told his '16 tape is pretty damn impressive. Haven't seen it myself.

 

I'd say chances are slim to none.

 

I want Anthony Miller in the 2nd, Genard Avery in the 3rd.

and here's why ... AB hands and quicks ... route running is good and will only improve w/pro reps and time

 

ps: not saying he's AB but was my first thought when he shows contested wins against bigger backs ... consistently in video. maybe think more like Rogers slot area of receiving with closer to AB quality catches, showing very college consistent plays.

 

I'm not sure Edmunds is dumb enough to play in our secondary. Not a good fit. To play in our secondary you have to:
1) MISS tackles in the open field.
2) Communicate poorly. He captained his secondary at VTech.
3) Blow assignments for big plays.
4) NOT make tackles after giving up big plays, allowing the receiver/back to score.
5) Bite on double moves and head fakes.
6) Struggle in space at the line of scrimmage.
7) Not rush the passer off the edge.
8) Fill the hole vs the run.
9) Committ stupid penalties that yield yardage and extend drives.
10) You must do all of the above and STILL CONVINCE THE COACHING STAFF to start you and/or keep you on the roster.

Edmunds does NONE OF THE ABOVE. And those weaknesses can't be instilled in you, even by our secondary coaches - you either have them or you don't.

82+ percentile in 7 of 8 measures. That's pretty impressive.

 

WR is a need but hot damn Pitt needs an ILB even more. They still have Justin Hunter under contract he can still be your 4/5 WR. DHB probably has another season in him.

My dream and smoke opium pick at 60 is Mike Gisecki . Josie Jewel from Iowa is a better version of Big Red I’ll pass on him.

 

Were not................taking............a TE in this draft. Our staff like McDonald and James as a 1/2 combo, and are convinced McDonald's health will hold up, unlike last year.

 

The kid from Penn(3rd round) or Sutton(2nd round) would be a nice addition
