  1. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

And then the Steelers grab a Day 3 dude at #28 overall. Wow.

Pass rusher and RB 33 and 35...I didn't see that as an option when I woke up this morning. I thought there was a chance for RB, but not Landry dropping this far..

Hang up the phone. Browns already won the Draft.

    Is Trent Richardson available?

Ugh. Ravens got a great one there.

Reminder: Scot McCloughan *LOVED* Baker, comparing him to Brett Favre. He also preferred Guice to Barkley.

If we do happen to take him, should really show how much input he really has.

Dorsey had the chance to reverse the Browns' offensive fortunes beginning THIS year and for years to come. He fucked it up.

gotta disagree with you Lyme. I think Dorsey got the QB he wanted, and he absolutely "had to" do it with #1. If he tried to get cute, you, me and the entire NFL would be wondering if he "chose a QB or settled for one. I also heard a lot of noise about the Jets wanting Mayfield, so I got no complaints there.

At 4, I would disagree with the CB, only because I felt nailing a Pass Rush elite team would have done more for us overall, but if he can take AB and AG out of the games, I'm good. If not, well......., I'm going to hate seeing Chubb become one of the league's best.

A lot less movement than I was expecting, and some guys went a lot later than I expected, so tomorrow could still be very rewarding.

Keep the faith. It's not over. For me it's the the Mayfield polarizing perspective, that most will see Cleveland's draft as suspect, and I guess it is, since until he plays, and the other 4 also play, we just won't know, but I respect Dorsey for deciding who he thought was best, and refused to even allow the possibility of not getting him.

He may be wrong, as may any of the other 4 teams who took a QB, but Mayfield is our guy now. BTW Taylor is not to be ignored. I think he may make a truly good QB for us. Let the new era begin.

  11. So if he makes a truly good QB isnt #1 a waste?

  12. So they pass on Chubb to select Landry who is a one dimensional player

No dumbass, they passed on Chubb to select Ward.

We have all been talking about trusting this front office and how much effort they seemed to make to get this right. I admit, I didn't want Ward at #4 for one simple reason...I felt this was a deep CB class and could get one in the 2nd round. BUT, I think it's obvious, they had Ward rated higher than Chubb, it's as simple as that. Dorsey has said all along, he's sticking to his board. That's what he did.

I could also see them doubling down on CB and fixing the position altogether with Josh Jackson sitting there on day two. He and Ward are two distinctly different CBs and each would serve a different purpose in this league. We don't have the caliber of either on the team currently.

He has a lot of options here to start the 2nd round, pretty sure he's just going to stick to his board.

So...as I deduce the first round this morning, something kept coming back to me over and over and over..

What does John Dorsey talk about in EVERY single press conference he has given since he arrived?

Anyone heard him use the word winner or winning?

I've come up with a theory:

He took the best offensive player on their board from a double digit winning team
He took the best defensive player on their board from a double digit winning team

The best offensive player on the top overall offense
The defensive player played on a top ten overall defense (#9 overall)

Both of these kids were used to winning their entire career. They were both chosen at a point where they were expected, neither were really a reach.

I could argue that Minkah Fitzpatrick fit that same bill, but in the end, I think they had CB as a more highly rated position than S and I think they felt Fitz would excel more at safety than CB.

I wanted Chubb, I think the majority of people wanted Chubb. He is a great player, but he didn't fit the criteria of my theory..

NC State came close in record with 9 wins in 2017, however that was this year, in Chubbs career they were only 31-21 and he was the best defensive player on a defensive team ranked 58th in the nation.

I'm not sure Chubb was even in the conversation.

Along this line of thinking, the following high second round prospects closely fall under that criteria:

    33rd and 35th picks:
Nick Chubb RB, Georgia, playoff team
    Orlando Brown OT, Oklahoma
    Ronnie Harrison S, Alabama
Maurice Hurst DT, Michigan is on the cusp, only 8 wins, but #3 defense
    Mark Andrews TE, Oklahoma
Anthony Miller WR, Memphis 10 win team, #4 overall offense
    Sam Hubbard DE, tOSU

    #64 pick:
Martinas Rankin OT, Mississippi State, is on the cusp, 9 wins, #46 offense is very shaky for this point
Dante Pettis WR, Washington again on the cusp, 10 wins but not great #58 overall offense
    Lorenzo Carter Edge, Georgia
    Anthony Averett CB, Alabama
Joseph Notebloom OT, TCU 11 wins, #48 overall offense
Mason Rudpolph QB, OSU 10 wins, #2 overall offense (Don't be shocked, if he's still here, which he won't be)
James Washington WR, OSU, this one would be more likely

Looking over the list of guys that fit the "criteria" I can't say I would be disappointed with any combination of 2 guys from the first list and 1 from the second at #64. They all bring something to the table to help this team improve as a whole unit.

lmao! Seriously? wth?? How does selecting the best QB in the draft "fuck up" the offensive fortunes?

The Browns had a private interview with Ward at the Combine. They brought him in for a private workout. They interviewed him again in Columbus at his pro day. And then they brought him in one more time at the local pro day event....If you didn't see Denzel Ward as a serious possibility for the Browns at #4, you just weren't paying attention...I don't know how many times I mentioned that Ward could be the pick. I love it! Look what Lattimore did for the Saints defense. Ward is is even better. We got a true lockdown CB right there. Best CB drafted by the Cleveland Browns since, THE Top Dawg, Hanford Dixon 35 years ago....GREAT PICK!

FTR: The Browns never showed any interest in Bradley Chubb.....No interviews. No visits. Nothing.

just surprised at all the negativity...to each his own. You're right, nobody forcing me to read it.

I made it to page 8 on the main draft thread until all the "same ol Browns" bullshit starting pissing me off to the point where I had to stop....

I guess I'll just be happy with the Browns draft and look forward to all the critics eating crow this fall....
