Just showing up doesn't help me if im on his ignore list. What i really needed was someone to quote me so he could then see my insults for himself. I didn't think the helping hand would come from a pot-stirring Castro-worshipper tbh, but little surprises like these make life fun. Of course, you've only been useful if you're not on the ignore list yourself. And no offense but i've seen your work, its no given Either way, appreciate the effort neighbor.
I don’t always agree with you, and you are just as big of a dick as I am, imo. Politically, we are fathoms apart. Change pot-stirring to pot-smoking and you’ll be in business. You’re welcome... neighbor.
See, i knew if we spoke long enough we'd find one thing in common! As for our politics, i don't believe you've heard enough from me about that to know.....because i don't shout my politics from the rooftops when im on this site. In fact i've hardly ever mentioned them on here. But if we are fathoms apart i'd suggest its more cos your own politics may be so far to the left, which of course would make you far apart from a lot of people, politically at least. But this probably isn't the place for this kind of discussion. Draft Day baby!!!
Holy shit, it is indeed draft day. Finally. Just wish it wasn't a whole 3-day affair... I was thinking - what are the positions that are most "system-dependant"? IE, what are the positions wherein utilization has the biggest effect relative to individual talent? QB sits at the top of the list for me. RB is second. I think I might go LB next. And then Safety is definitely scheme-dependent. The least system-dependant positions? DLine, OLine, maybe WR next... I ask (and obviously quickly and scatter-brained) because I think it helps direct your draft approach. You can find a guy in the mid rounds who fits your system perfectly and does the job of a top pick for you, if they're at the right position. RB, for example. Meanwhile, at other positions, talent is talent, and you can't really get around it. At 8, you want to draft a guy that fits and has mad talent. But, if you're trying to stock a couple positions, stocking the ones that prioritize talent is probably a good call... *cough* looking at you, people saying to draft Barkley at 1 *cough* talking heads are idiots *cough* Note: this is a nuanced conversation that I definitely shouldn't have tried to broach on the toilet at the start of the work day.
CB. Big time. Not sure about the DL shout. The difference between a one-gap versus two-gap defender in terms of responsibilities/being disciplined and playing attributes, is significant.
Yeah I agree with CB being the least system dependent position. Even a CB in zone system has to have cover skills or isn't going to last long. I would honestly pick offensive tackle next because of the abundance of quality edge rushers you face in today's NFL....the system you're blocking in isn't really going to play a huge role in how you play....your physical skills and ability matter more than anything.
Draft rumormongering https://chicago.suntimes.com/sports...b-bradley-chubb-who-thinks-they-can-trade-up/ Pure speculation, but I hope he’s wrong, given what they’d have to forfeit to move up to, presumably, #2.
On the contrary, I could see a situation where The Bears need to merely move up 3 spots to get to Chubb... 1. Browns select Baker Mayfield 2. Giants select Sam Darnold 3. Jets select Josh Rosen 4. Browns select Saquon Barkley I also could see the Broncos big board looking something like: 1. Sam Darnold, 2. Baker Mayfield, 3. Saquon Barkley..now what comes after them isn't important for this scenario, what matters is their top 3 guys would be off the board, so moving down and getting something in return might appeal to them if the reports are true. Bears give up: #8 and #40 and getting back Bradley Chubb and #71, seems like a no brainer for the Bears if that scenario was on the board at #5. **Another scenario, the Browns trade down with Buffalo and a 4th QB comes off the board, with Barkley going to Denver at #5, then you are talking about competing with the Colts and Buccs for Chubb...I don't think the Buccs are in the fight for him and I think the Colts will be all over Quentin Nelson. If the Browns trade down from #4, Chubb might be available at #8.
If the Browns take Baker Mayfield tonight.....they will not only prove they have deserved the last 20 something years of misery but that they deserve the next 10 or 15 coming to them as well.
Can't scan the field.....can't read defenses....erratic feet....short and will have a lot of passes batted back into his face.....holds the ball too long....throws off his back foot....puts too much hang time on long passes.... I can't figure out for the life of me what people see on film that says to them this kid is gonna be a good NFL QB.
No reason to get sensitive....I'm a fan of a team that has drafted poorly for the last 30 some years.
Haha. “It’s a real toss-up because on one hand, you have a guy with tremendous instincts and athleticism, but on the other, you have an inconsistent, injury-prone question mark from a third-rate program. How do you make that choice?” said Pace, He should consult Jerry Angelo on this.....
One scout thinks he he could be Russell Wilson. I see the same things you did. And a cocky attitude, he loves to run his mouth--which some love, some hate. He won't have one of the league (or college's) best left tackles. So I can see him going 'splat' pretty quick. Rosen to me is the best, but I think our friend here didn't like that he said for the browns not to draft him. Unless a pic comes out that has Chubb pulling a Larry Tunsil and hitting the bong, I'm not sure how he gets out of the top 3. Sure hope I'm wrong.
Good luck to the Bears tonight. I'll toast you all in the hopes of seeing the kind of Ryan Pace pick that doesn't have you guys out in the streets smashing vehicles and looting the neighborhood all night.
What does that look like? Cheers, Tim, to all your work leading up to the draft. As much as I have been disappointed in Pace at many times, I'm hopeful that he's getting better. At the very least, I'm hoping he does an awful lot better with the 8th pick than he did with the f****** 7th.
