The NFL network has replays of past drafts on today. A lot of misses in the first round.

I would see a team move up a to snag Ward or Fitzpatrick, depending on need.

The more I thought about this the more I realized that if the top 4 QB's are all close to each other, then why not take everyone else out of the equation and just pick the best player in the draft at #1 in Saquan Barkley and STILL get one of the top 4 QB's at pick #4. DUH!

And the reason is that no good GM should view 4 QBs as close. They should have at most 2 ranked 1a and 1b. There are things that separate these guys. In which case they would be afraid that their only 2 real targets will get snagged in between.

As frustrating as it is, the QB position is just too important to sit and wait on. They need to take their guy.

Don't remember ever seeing the words "Lyman" and "good GM" in the same sentence. All four have their lipstick and all four have their warts. And none of the four should be starting games in 2018.

Take the best player in the draft at #1. Worst case is half of the top 4 are still there at #4 (probably 75%).

You've probably heard "A good GM wouldn't listen to Lyman" or "Lyman a good GM wouldn't do that" on the Browns board before.

Been saying this for a couple months now. If Barkley is your clear #1 prospect, and you have 3-4 QBs graded within a whisker of each other, take Barkley at #1.

The thing is actual teams don't have QBs rated within a whisker of one another. At most really it's 2 like it likely was with Goff/Wentz and Winston/Mariota.

I hate you for giving us Barkley. I keep hearing it's probably going to happen and I die a little inside each time. A RB who isn't a tough between the tackles runner at #2 overall instead of a franchise QB prospect when Eli is going to turn 38 during the season. The Giants are basically blowing up the roster and at the same time refusing to admit they went 3 - 13 and are rebuilding. They traded JPP and burned through their cap space on different mediocre offensive lineman and are now trying to trade Flowers. He may not be all that good but that creates even more holes that they can't really fill internally.

Barkley doesn't somehow make this team a sure thing deep playoff contender and I guess that's what my issue is. Anything less than a perennial pro-bowler with a 10+ year career and a RB at #2 overall is a disappointment. And all this from a guy who traded back and landed Barkley in the official mock.

I don't disagree...I am really curious though. EVERYONE has Darnold as the Giants only QB prospect. If Darnold goes #1, who would you like in New York? I can't find anyone anywhere talking about any other QB for the Giants.

Rosen is my QB 1 and it's a pretty easy decision for me. The Giants have quietly met with Rosen about 4 times. Both owners have had dinner with him, they met with him at the combine and he was on an official team visit. Honestly there hasn't been much coming out the Meadowlands this year. I heard Matt Miller on a podcast recently say the guy he used to call for info on the Giants board was let go as part of the front office overhaul and Gettleman is managing to keep things pretty quiet. I think people keep reporting Barkley is the guy because the Giants always spout positive things about him whenever they have a chance. There is also a rumor floating around that the giants coaching staff like Josh Allen. And one of the head scouts is Chris Mara -- brother of CEO John Mara. Chris apparently keeps fighting for Davis Webb to get a chance.

If Barkley is the guy so be it. I'll not like it on draft night but I'll understand and hope against hope he is every bit the pro player he is the pro prospect. I just think at this point in the franchise it would be a poor allocation of resources.

Has Gettleman made ANY public comments about the QB the Giants took in last year's draft? That's the key. What does he think of Davis Webb? If I'm projecting Barkley to the Giants, it has as much to do with how they feel about Webb as anything...

"He's a good kid and has followed Eli around like a puppy since he got here" That is basically all anyone says about him. He never took a meaningful snap and he spent most of the year as the scout team QB. Webb is a prospect who looks great is shorts though. They are using the minicamp that started today as "an extended pro day" for Webb giving him a good amount of the snaps to see how far he has come. To me though Webb's challenges won't show in a pro day scenario. Has he gotten better facing pressure? Will he keep his mechanics in the face of a pass rush? Can he run a play action turn his head and quickly read the field. Webb wasn't very good at the mental aspects of being a QB at game speed -- and that won't show itself in practice tape or a mini camp in helmets and shorts.

I honestly don't think you can consider Webb AT ALL in this process. He is a sunk resource and a cheap back-up for the next three years. IF he turns out to be more than that AWESOME! Trade him or trade the guy you drafted. But don't hang the future of the franchise on a 3rd round QB drafted to run the last HC's offense.

This whole scenario reminds me so much of the Titans fans who wanted to trade the #2 pick to the Eagles and hang our future on Zach Mettenberger instead of Mariota.

I find that the most avid "no QB at #2" Giants fans are largely Barkley fans using Davis Webb as a crutch to say they should take the RB.
