Kinda hanging near the 1st, but rarely mocked in the 1st: Christian Kirk, WR, Texas A&M Completely off the wall: Shaquem Griffin, LB, UCF
Might be a longshot, but Brian O'Neill is an ascending player that hasn't played OT very long. He was recruited to Pitt as a TE, but had to fill in a OT due to an injury, and he never looked back. Now he's 6'8"/300+, with 34" arms....Obviously there is a premium on OT's in the NFL, and I wouldn't be shocked if we heard O'Neill's name called on Thursday night...
Hmm, my guess would be: -Rosen -Barkley -Nelson -Chubb -Smith -Edmunds -LVE -Fitzpatrick -Ward -Vea -Payne -James Landry instead of Rosen if he's only talking about non-QBs.
I like your list, but I have a couple of different views to it...It isn't that I don't like Vea or Payne, rather it is extremely difficult to project DTs to a pro bowl level, especially since both are more geared to a 3-4 scheme, imho. I would replace them with Mayfield and Michel
I think Lorenzo Carter has an outside shot of cracking the bottom of the first. If I'm taking an full court heave, I'll go with Nwosu.
Yep. I have him in my first round mock...The fortunate thing for Price was that his injury wasn't a complete tear, and he'll be good to go by training camp. I haven't studied every team to see who needs what, but I've pretty much always had Price in the 20 to 40 range.
There seems to be a lot a Baker Mayfield at #1 chatter going on today. I fully expected this, but I thought it would have come a couple weeks ago...All the Darnold hype still has me wondering.... I will have to say that of all the mocks I've seen, (even though I made fun of it) I really like the MJD draft as well as any...lol! Barkley, Chubb and Jackson!!! Now that's exciting!!! We could do worse...jus sayin. I like it a helluva lot better than all the Josh Allen scenarios that have been floating around for weeks...
James Daniels is a guy that keeps getting knocked out of the 1st in mocks. The obvious fit is the Bengals but he likely needs to be their BPA at that time. I don't think they go for a guy like Wynn instead but could go different than iOL. Other teams that don't need an immediate center will have to decide if he can play guard exceptionally. I think he can but the media just thinks center.
Minnesota is a team that I think likes him. They’ve interviewed him on multiple occasions, and had a good payoff from their recent OSU OL in Elflein. Their OL is not a finished product and they shored up other spots in FA.
The switch from TE to OT is not unprecedented. Buffalo took an undrafted FA TE and turned Peters into a perennial All Pro OT. (Of course most of his pro bowls came after being traded to the Eagles.)
My long shots for going in the first round would be Tim Settle, Ian Thomas and Anthony Miller. I haven't seen any of them in the first round of mock drafts but I have a slight feeling that one of them could creep in... Edit: Add Rasheem Green to that list
I think Ragnow may be their preferred option at that spot, but I agree with the idea that offensive line is a likely pick for Minnesota at the bottom of the first. I think Williams would be solid for them if he is available there, but I'm starting to get the feeling that he may be gone as early as Cincinnati.
After watching this a second time, man... his trainer is doing him a real disservice. Come on, man! Get the feet closer together so he can strike with balance and power. He's got him leaning, all arms with the effort and playing some slap hands. Striking power starts with a balanced platform where it transfers torque from the balls of the feet, through the ankles and calves, up through the hip twist, rolls from the shoulder and culminates by transferring all of that energy through the hands. I don't care if he's just trying to improve his hand placement for press coverage. Teach him the correct fundamentals and technique damn it! This type of shit irritates me. I gotta go hit the heavy bag...
