13 would have been my second guess...

Number 2 can be ruled out because both the Browns and the NFL prohibited the use of any names and/or numbers of current NFL players when they agreed to the rights for the movie and Manziel was still a current player when the movie was shot.

Haha, because I went back and looked...

Actually the movie was shot in 2013, Manziel was drafted in 2014 ;)

Shot in 2013 but scheduled for release in 2014 and that's the year that the NFL and the Browns specified for exclusion.

But it was released BEFORE the 2014 NFL Draft took place Lym, there was NO way of knowing Manziel, or the #2 jersey would be worn in the season of 2014.

  7. Lyman "Franchise Asshole" Browns Buckeyes

Yep. That's why they had to shoot multiple takes in the pre-game tunnel ramp up scene at the tail end of the movie.

Haha, Lym...the movie was RELEASED before the NFL Draft took place, the scene was already in movie screens BEFORE Manziel walked across the stage at the draft.

    (edit)
The movie was playing in theaters April 10th of 2014

Johnny Manziel was drafted on May 8th of 2014

Now amount of magical takes would have voided the #2 being worn BECAUSE of Manziel.

I'm not a Hollywood insider like Catfish. I have a friend who's son was an intern with the Browns during the time the movie was shot. He said he spent an entire day shuttling jerseys back and forth for the additional takes of that scene.

I plan to stick to my tradition of playing that movie the night before the draft...

Fun fact: I was at an Indians game the summer that movie was being filmed, and Kevin Costner was sitting in the same section as us. I found out later on the re-broadcast that he was filming a movie in Cleveland. Didn't seem like a big Hollywood celebrity at all. If he had bodyguards, they weren't noticeable. Just a guy hanging out with his daughter, enjoying baseball with a beer and a hot dog...

I'm not arguing that fact...But can you explain how they KNEW that Johnny Manziel was GOING to be drafted and GOING to wear #2 in the 2014 season, when the movie came out a month before the actual draft occurred...Just stop and think about this for a second before posting again. I'm not trying to argue with you, I'm trying to get you to realize what happened.

    (edit)
I could say it would have been because free agency would have occurred prior to the movie release, but I believe they actually go into production mode more than a month prior to release and that would have put the actual film being produced prior to free agency as well.

I know what happened, Irish. I also know what I was told by someone who was there. Were you there?

Haha, I was actually just thinking...after I mow the lawn today, maybe I'll watch it again...

LOL, I don't know what else to say Lym...Sleep on it, then reread this exchange of posts tomorrow.

I didn't have to be there...The movie was being watched by millions of people prior to the actual draft happening a month AFTER they had already seen Brian Drew with the #12 jersey on. You can't take it back and pretend you didn't see it...if he they had chosen one of the other scenes that your friend's son had helped with, say the #2 jersey, then one of two things would have occurred...1) your theory that no numbers from the movie be worn in the 2014 season would not be accurate or 2) Johnny Manziel would have had to choose a different jersey than #2...Because it HAD ALREADY BEEN WORN BY DREW AT THAT POINT.

This is what started all of this...

Manziel was not only not a current player when the movie was shot, he wasn't a current player when the movie was released to the public for viewing.

    (edit)
Also, there is this...Vontae Mack was #51 in draft day...the same number as Barkevious Mingo in 2014, and 2013 for that matter. Mingo, a LB, was drafted in 2013...days after the draft ended, the Movie Draft Day began and LB Mack wore the same # jersey as Mingo drafted that same year.

    and people say I'm argumentative...

    You are.

I simply stated what I was told and you go on and on and on to shoot holes in it.

Never mind, I will avoid posting anything pertaining to any of your posts in the future..sorry to be so bothersome

    That works for me.

Like I already stated . . . I shared a story from a friend of mine. I didn't feel a need to fact check it but, apparently, you did.

And, for the record, he didn't specifically say that Manziel's #2 jersey was a reason for multiple takes of the tunnel scene. I erred when I included his jersey numbet that could be ruled out.

Ok I'll admit I had to go back and look at what number is in the movie:oops:

Once I had that the only two QBs I ever watched wear the number I new who they were.

I even got to watch testeverde play the raiders in the playoffs.
