They have so many different crews and keep shuffling them around I cant keep track, lol. If Romo can do it, Favre should have been also, but maybe their looking for the next Howard Cosell?
not necessarily. not everyone can broadcast. romo is younger and healthier than favre. i thought he did a great job this season in the booth. i heard Fox wants him with Buck as team 1 and demote Aikman to team 2.
Jason Witten has played 15 seasons. He will play at least one more and hopes to play three more after that. Speculation began about Witten’s future after a Sporting News report that FOX was interested in hiring Witten, who auditioned for Thursday Night Football. Witten said Tuesday he has no interest in a TV job right now. “Hopefully I can play until I’m 40,” Witten said, via Jon Machota of the Dallas Morning News. “Just taking it one year at a time.” Witten, who turns 36 next month, restructured his contract earlier this offseason. He has played in 239 of a possible 240 games in his career, but, in 2017, he had the fewest yards since his rookie season with 560.
Agree - not because of age/health, but just because Romo was good doesn't mean Favre should be good as well. Joe Montana, Dan Marino - great QBs, know whatey're talking about - wouldn't want them to be anything more than an occasional guest.
As long as he's contributing, I hope to keep seeing him out there. 239 of 240 games - amazing. Only one he missed was when he broke his jaw in his rookie year. Hasn't missed a game since Week 5 of the 2003 season.
Brett Favre is disputing he stunk the place up for his broadcasting interview for MNF, claims the reports are false and this is what he said... “Wanted to clear something up from today’s press on me & ESPN,” Favre said. “Truth is I had a good meeting about possibly joining the MNF crew. I was intrigued when they called yet not sure I want to pursue a broadcasting career right now. I wish them the best of luck and a great season.” So, Brett is making it sound as if he declined for now. I believe Brett over ESPN and CBS, truthfully.
Report: Saquon Barkley’s agents don’t want him to go to Cleveland The Browns don’t exactly have a great track record of developing the players they choose in the NFL draft, and the people around one of this year’s top prospects would prefer for him not to be next. That’s the word from a Sports Illustrated profile of Penn State running back Saquon Barkley, which says that although Barkley is ready to compete wherever he goes, his agents would much rather see Barkley go second overall to the Giants than first overall to the Browns. “His Roc Nation handlers, however, don’t want him to be taken No. 1,” Ben Baskin writes in SI. “They don’t want him in Cleveland. They want him to go second to the Giants and play in the media capital of the world. That’s where you can become the Face of the League. His manager even implored him to pull an Eli Manning and demand that the Browns not draft him. Barkley never considered the option.” Given that the Browns have both the first and the fourth overall pick, there’s a decent chance they’ll end up taking Barkley. They’re fortunate that he’s not planning to follow his manager’s advice. (PFT)
contributing now is great, but is it worth being a vegetable in 20 yrs? If Favre is having problems now, and I know he plays a different position, but will Witten's brain look like in 10-15 years? with all these bad CTE cases out there, seeing anyone at his age play 4 more years is asking a lot.
his brain is such a mess, who knows who is telling the truth. I hear him speak for TV and commercials and he doesn't sound that articulate. Not everyone can be an announcer.
Just because he plays until his late 30s or even 40 doesn't mean he automatically becomes a vegetable later in life.
I know mock drafts don't matter, but Barkley is dropping in ALL of them. he's not in the top 5 on at least 3 of them. now granted, the teams at the top all need a QB, but Barley's stock seems to be dropping. If I needed a RB, I would NOT pass on him. I think he's the real deal.
God I hope not, but it seems the new norm now is a lot of these players are having CTE. Titans ex-TE, and a fellow Archbishop Ryan High School alumnus, Frank Wycheck, has early stages of CTE and is 46. He had to take a year off from his Titan radio job. Now Witten is a lot younger than Wycheck, but it seems to happen to many NFL players. 4 more years is a lot of hits Witten will take. A lot to put an old NFL body through. And look at Favre. I posted last week that his diagnosis is a mess already. Scary and sad news. I don't wish any bad ill on Witten. Always a classy player. Just 4 more years is a lot at his age.
The talking heads are receiving more and more pressure to put out something compelling enough to get clicks. They can't help themselves. We are like wolves, demanding news that simply isn't there. I think the fog will start lifting in about 7 days. The 24 hours leading up to the draft is when I start believing some of what is being reported.
