I wasn’t fishing for a “thank you”, but I want you to understand that I’m not just a rogue asshole just shooting off. Like I said, I respect your opinion and I like you (even though you’re a division enemy).
I don't hand out Thank you's like business cards. You served and I thanked you. Period. But, you are a rogue asshole.
I think in this circumstance that a donation doesn't have the same affect as giving 5 or 10 minutes at half time to a pair of players from each team to have a prerecorded message play on the jumbo-tron and during the televised halftime coverage. Approaching difficult subjects that the players and owners are involved with can be done in an open format and would serve as a bridge instead of a moat in building relations in communities IMO.
I agree with that 100%. I'm in no way suggesting that it should be about Colin's preferred cause or any single ideal. The players, owner, coaches and even the fans should all have some input on what topics can be discussed on any given Sunday. Another option would be that prior to the Sunday night game you could have a segment. You could take it out of the game day experience altogether and still have a larger format for exposure.
Or players who are the bent on getting their message out could, buy a full page add in a magazine, buy a full page add in a newspaper, or a billboard heck amazingly being they are superstars its not that hard for them to get a mic in front of their face to speak to people. The bottom line being 1) if they are that hell bent on getting a message out they can do so without taking a knee during the anthem 2) It should not be the NFLs responsibility to give them a forum.
I'm not suggesting that the league owes the players anything or has any responsibility other than what they have already accepted. My opinion is based solely on the idea that the league had a golden opportunity to make the best of a poor situation. By being in front of this issue they could have had a hand in molding it into something that ultimately worked in their favor. Instead, they managed to marginalize the concerns of all parties involved.
What they should have done is just said hey no teams out on the field until after the Anthem problem solved. Its interesting because other players in the past have either protested or shown support by wearing a certain color of cleats or writing a number on their uniform or wearing a head band and they were fined for doing so. Yes the used the uniform rule as a way to get them but the message should have been clear from those fines. The message of course being the field and our game is not your platform. Which is why they should have moved quickly to nip this in the bud and said hey no kneeling. I find it interesting that Seattle was going to bring him in for a try out despite the ongoing law suit. Now of course it is postponed or canceled because when he was asked if he is going to cut out the kneeling he wouldn't say yes. To me this pretty much ends any argument he has about being blackballed. He had a chance to get a job and cant commit to not kneeling so sorry tough luck you are unemployed.
Report: Eagles’ Daryl Worley arrested in Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Daryl Worley was arrested this morning in Philadelphia. NFL Network reports that police used a taser on Worley in the process of arresting him, and a gun was recovered. There was no immediate word on why Worley was arrested. The incident occurred near the team’s facility. A 2016 third-round pick of the Panthers, Worley has only been an Eagle for a month. He was traded from Carolina to Philadelphia in exchange for wide receiver Torrey Smith at the start of the new league year. Last year Worley played in 15 games with 14 starts for the Panthers. (PFT)
From Walter Football Of the Vikings top-30 team visits, they've met with edge rushers more than any other position. - Six edge rushers have visited, followed by five wide receivers and four offensive tackles. This is interesting for two reasons. First, the Vikings have two stellar edge rushers in Everson Griffen and Danielle Hunter, but they'll need depth there with Brian Robison set to retire soon. Second, the Vikings have selected six players who have visited over the past two drafts.
Bruce Arians: Cardinals should take Lamar Jackson at No. 15 overall Arizona Central "Bruce Arians couldn’t wait to wolf down a quick breakfast, shake some hands and pose for some pictures, and then hit the golf course Saturday morning. The former Cardinals head coach was about to play in his own charity tournament, after all, the fifth annual Arizona Celebrity Golf Classic..." http://www.prosportsdaily.com/artic...ke-lamar-jackson-at-no-15-overall-508958.html
The Titans have canceled their visit with Leighton Vander Esch because they don't expect him to be available at No. 25. - Tony Pauline, DraftAnalyst.com
"People familiar with the Browns' thinking" expect the Browns to select Josh Allen first overall. - Daniel Jeremiah, NFL Network
"Keep an eye on Ravens and Penn State WR DaeSean Hamilton. Could be a Day 2 option for them. They've shown a lot of interest." - Eric Edholm, Pro Football Weekly
From what I gather in study of the Vikings and their needs, especially from their very own Web-site, their biggest need is Guard, followed by CB, then it might make sense to go after depth in the Edge category. I'm not sure what their doing by bringing in what seems like non-pertinent targets... and now I'm worried by the stat you brought up of the Vikings signing 6 targets that they have had a pow-wow with. One factor that may be being considered is moving up, if they can, as some believe a solid/legit OG isn't going to be available come pick #30 anyway. Or maybe address the CB at #30 then address the Guard in round 2, but that requires some serious luck. The more I attempt to wrap my brain around what Spielman might do the more confused I become (lol, I like him, but...). Anyway, I digressed. Maybe the heavy influx of visiting Edge Rushers is because Zimmer needs to evaluate them more in depth personally... afterall, he is a D-minded kinda guy. He seems to be doing ok as it stands.
but what else is hurting the rating's Gid? It's not like Kap's kneeling brought down the NFL. It was going down before Kap starting his kneeling.
Notre Dame and Penn Charter HS Graduate Mike McGlinichy is high on the Eagles list. I doubt he will be there when they pick unless they trade up to get him. Would love seeing the home town kid play for the Eagles. Ironically Daryl Worley played at Penn Charter too. Penn Charter is a snooty private High School that is part of the Inter-Ac and is a $25,000-45,000 a year HIGH SCHOOL. That figure is no lie. All of the schools in that league are the same. There is 1 down the street from me. Episcopal Academy. Around since 1760 or some shit like that. If you're rich and have connection - your kid goes to one of these schools. Many colleges don't cost $25-45 a year, so why should a High School? The student makes the most of what is offered, not the school. If you wanna be a slug, the school won't do 2 shits about it.
