Yep, that's what I'm getting at. Very thin as far as true 1st round, true 2nd round etc talents. If you're having to draft one, it's almost certain that you're reaching and taking a guy too soon. But you know how I love scouting the potential practice squad guys, and how my Falcons have scored with Tyson Clabo, Harvey Dahl, Ryan Schraeder and others. This year is loaded with guys who could become starters but need development time. Really makes me wish the NFL could get it together and bring back a developmental league so that these guys could get another season's worth of competitive reps. (Also, being a dirty old man, I really miss the Berlin Thunder cheerleaders.)
I really like Connor Williams and McGlinchey. I think they are true 1st rounders in any class. One or both still could fall because of other needs, premiums and simply not thinking like me. Then there are a handful of guys for day 2 that I like to develop in a year or so.
Okay, I had this guy all cue'd up and ready to select last night to start the round, and then Munoz came with a trade offer...After some tough negotiations, we made a noteworthy deal, and I moved down 20 spots....Cleveland elated to see target still on the board: BROWNS SELECT Anthony Averett, CB - BAMA Former track star with speed to burn. Something John Dorsey has made abundantly clear that he covets in his secondary...
I know they just signed Anthony Hitchens to a big money deal, but their depth is still suspect and I guess you can never have too many undersized Iowa linebackers... Chiefs select Josey Jewell, LB, Iowa
JFTR- Will and the Vikings sniped me at the end of rd 2...I had Donte Jackson and Averett neck and neck, but I would have taken my distant cousin Donte, simply because of his last name alone... I am truly pleased with how that snipe actually worked out for the Browns draft though...This is fun. I still can't believe not a single CB came off the board in rd 3 until I finally picked...Seemed like a very long wait.
I liked Averett’s tape. I think he’ll have to work on his off-man and zone technique. He’s very comfortable in press.
Has it been really windy the last couple days where anyone else is? I love this warmer air, but the wind sucks.
