Their was a trade then no pick?

 

It was sent earlier in the morning and the pick isn't due for a while. RT and I just both happened to post it at the same time much later by chance.

 

Now that Mark Andrews, Hayden Hurst and Dallas Goedert are all off the board, I can say (without name dropping) that it wasn't an easy call between the three of them. All three have great hands but need work blocking, making them all more in the "pure receiver" category, though Hurst and probably Goedert have real potential as H-back types.

I usually don't mind small school guys, but I see that as being a potential issue with Goedert. He went from the ultra small high school to the small college, where he was already more athletic than the opposition. Hitting the NFL level will be the first time he has been up against linebackers and safeties that can cover him. He's going to have to work hard on his route running skills.

With Hurst, it's the notion of a 25-year old rookie rather than the small school guy. He's not likely to be "the answer" for the next decade as he'll already be getting close to 30 when he finishes his rookie contract.

So... even though I would normally want a better blocker or at least an H-back candidate (both of which would point me towards Hurst and have me thinking about Goedert), I went with Andrews. Tough call though.

 

Goedert did do well against TCU 2 years ago. They didn't play an FBS school last year.

 

And by all accounts Goedert has a great attitude and work ethic. I think he’ll become pretty good. It’s tough to cover his catch radius with hands like his.

 

Yep, all three have great hands. Goedert looks like a small school gem. Hurst likes to dish out a hit, making him a potential H-back fit as well as regular receiving TE. But would you have taken them ahead of Andrews?

 

That trade was sent at something like 3am.
I worked 12 hours yesterday and I’m fighting a cold. When I crashed, I crashed. I could barely open my eyes this morning to post that trade. And now no Matt. Awkward...

 

I actually do have Goedert graded ahead of Andrews.

Depends on the team though.
Colts or Saints could go Goedert.
I mocked Andrews to the Cowboys. Mostly because he reminds me of Witten

 

It was at 7am and I noticed at 8:30 but was too tired to get it up until 9.

 

And there is also Gisecki who many have elsewhere in the top 4/5.

 

His athleticism will get him drafted higher than he should be. His tape is only just above average. Still, he has a chance to become pretty good with better technique and more opportunities
