I picked the Pens in 5 so I have Philly winning 1. If it isn't game 2 it'll have to be at home. It is just a brutal matchup this year. One I would normally pick a sweep in but think the Flyers will be pissed enough to take one away, likely at home.

 

i think they lost twice in OT this year, so they can hang with them. however tonight was a joke. total mismatch and domination. hakstol's roster and lineup decisions are driving the Flyers fans nuts. Matt Read? Konecny on the 3rd line? terrible.

That's putting it nicely.

I said this last night to someone on FB. 2 pts separated them in the standings, but they are worlds apart on the ice. you got the big 3 in Crosby, malkin and TEH PHIL. Flyers have Giroux, Jake and maybe Coots. The big difference is Pitt also has a capable and trustworthy 3rd and 4th line. The Flyers don't and that idiot coach put Raffl on the first line last night and fan favorite Travis Konecny on the 3rd line. Not smart. Gudas is a walking minus every time he's on the ice. Andy Mac is slowed downed by his $47 million. Pitt doesn't have these problems. Lastly, the goaltending. Elliott was giving out rebounds like free Halloween candy last night. You can't give a high scoring team like Pitt rebound after rebound. He did and they pounced on them like Jaws and that little kid Alex Kitner in the water.

Praying for a better second game. Not really realistic. I'm getting my golf clubs all ready for next week.

 

You can't judge the pens on the regular season, they don't start showing up until the second half. They also have 5 more wins than philly, but pure playoff team.

 

well just stating how close they were in points skinny, but how far realistically they were on the ice last night. I really think the Pens love playing possum. Just played dead and keep near the top and come playoff time, boom, play like gangbusters and win back to back Cups.

 

Kessel and malkin are like the walking dead the first 3 months, except for this year as far as kessel.

 

Malkin can turn it on and be the best in the league at times. he scares the shit out of me.

Let's not forget that at one point this season that even Pens fans were openly expressing their diminishing chances of even making the postseason. I always give a lot more weight to "what have you done lately?'. There's no question that since January that PIT has turned it up a notch like winners do. For this reason the regular season standings have even less significance than ever.

It doesn't matter since the hockey team from Boston is going to win the EC.

 

Boston isn't getting out of the first round. There will be vengeance!
