I hadn't seen what Sid had done for the survivors, very cool. Yeah, I've always loved HNIC from my youth. Short story..I was born and raised in NW Ohio and we had no cable TV in the house, just the rooftop antenna. I first got into hockey by tuning in every Saturday night for HNIC from the Windsor, Ontario affiliate Channel 9. This was from about the age of six. Definitely puts the coverage here in the States to shame. I'm glad at least the NBC family of networks started airing every playoff game a few years back. The other networks act like hockey doesn't even exist. Continued prayers for the Broncos. #PrayForHumboldt
Very cool, my hometown team! When I was there they were called the Storm. Worst logo in all of sports, a lightning bolt and hockey stick with the word Storm.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/truck-...-pleads-guilty-dont-want-trial-174400029.html wow. still a tragic event no matter how long he is sentenced. trees blocked the STOP sign at the intersection and he didn't know he had to stop. sad.
If the driver of the truck actually stopped at the sign there is NO way he didn't see the bus coming. If, on the other hand, he decided to just creep through the intersection of what appears to be a pretty deserted area ... he smashes into the bus. Totally his fault and there is no excuse for this.
he didn't see the stop sign. it was covered by trees. the trees also in the photo above blocked his view of the bus. he thought he didn't have to stop. he pleaded guilty to all counts BF so he is taking 100% fault and blame for this tragedy! The excuse is he never saw the stop sign blocked by the trees. They have cut down the trees and posted bigger stop signs up.
This story is so sad.......BUT it has a Silver Lining.......the Driver (Jaskirat Sidhu) of the Semi pleaded Guilty to vehicle manslaughter......now the Family's of the victims can avoid a LONG Drawn out Court case and bringing up Painful Memories of their lost Loved Ones..... ....Sidhu should have NEVER been behind the Wheel of the Semi as he lacked experience and Hours required to drive a Multi Axle Vehicle....and he owned up to this problem.....Kudos to Him. I'm glad to hear that the Federal Gov't is charging the Owner (Sukhmander Singh) of the Trucking Company as he must bear this tragic and avoidable accident......Singh was only concerned with getting the Cargo (Peat Moss) to Market and he knew Driver Sidhu was inexperienced. Now what will the Courts do......Sidhu is Guilty and will he Face Prison time ???......he could get 14 Years ??? But IMO the Courts need to after the Owner Singh......he has a LONG list of Violations....SHUT this guy down. I admire Sidhu for admitting his Guilt.....as Painful as it is he will Face a LIFE Sentence of Grief. Some Good News has come out of this Tragedy.....The Saskatchewan Gov't has passed a Bill that ALL Semi Truck Drivers have to have training and pass a lengthy course before they can drive on Public Roads....I believe this should be a Federal Mandate so ALL Provinces in Canada will have to follow this LAW.
The picture that I posted very clearly shows where the trees are situated when the crash happened. Once you make a full stop at the stop sign which is clearly in view being on the opposite side of the trees he would have been able to inch a little forward to look at anything coming up the road. I know that he took full blame. He is completely to blame. He saw the stop sign, he just didn't come to a complete stop.
You should see some of the driving schools around here Larry. My husband is a long distance tractor trailer driver and he says that the way they are pushing new and inexperienced drivers out of driving school is criminal and reprehensible. They aren't being taught properly and they are arrogant and careless when they're behind the wheel. It makes me livid because I've seen what can happen when a driver makes a mistake carrying 100s of thousands of pounds behind him. It's not pretty. The owner of the company should be held as responsible as the driver.
He saw the stop sign, he just didn't come to a complete stop. Baby, at Point of Impact he (Sidhu) was travelling at 90 KM an Hour......hence the total destruction of both vehicles and loss of Life.............had he slowed down or STOPPED he would have missed Impact.
Thanks Larry, I didn't know that. There is absolutely no excuse for this. Where I live there is the exact same situation, with a house, trees and with the exception of it being a 4-way stop. I have seen multiple vehicles fly through the intersection where they have zero visibility of the south bound lane. There is NO way this driver didn't see the stop sign. It's as clear as a bell on the right side of the road entering the intersection. This just makes me sick. It has for months. I'm out of this discussion. Thanks Larry

It's a GOD Awful Problem in this Country Baby.....tell your Husband to become a Spokes Person and FIX this problem..........I see this problem ALL the Time on the Coquihalla Highway .....very scary HWY to Drive in the Winter Time......as the Semi Truck Drivers are inexperienced and YOUNG and drive at 120 KM / Hour......90 % of Accidents on the Coq involve a Semi.
My dad drove a truck, he says when it's too late to stop, it's too late. I was almost killed by one of those sleepy fkrs a few years back. It was midnight and I was going through the green on an intersection and he went right through a red light. The only thing that saved me was timing, he crossed 3 seconds before I crossed. I chased him down and he just said sorry. I took his plate down and reported it on the police website. Not sure anything happened as I was never contacted again.
