yeah who would keep a 2 time superbowl QB? He's never been a chest thumping hero, just very good and very clutch. I see a couple of seasons more. Yeah they may take a QB, but Eli's still the man in NY
Treating a guy who won you a superbowl like a God? Yeah I'd do that. How's Cleveland treated their superbowl winning QB? Oh. Right.
Yeah... Nick Foles is a God lol... You know there is such a thing as being fortunate. It's not like Manning carried the Giants to a Super Bowl win. His receivers made a couple outstanding plays. Eli is a good man by all accounts. He's never been a great QB and for the most part was an average QB who didn't get hurt. Now he isn't even average.
If the Giants would be in "Great" shape by taking Barkley and trading back into the first round for Rudolph. The Browns would have to be in better shape if... The Browns could pick Barkley and Chubb and then trade back into the first round and pick Rudolph and let him sit for a year.
Fair enough. I think I'm hoping the Giants take Barkley, though. He's an amazing player, but not really the smartest move for us. The Browns need a QB in the worst way, and trading back up in the hopes of getting your guy is risky (yes, I realize I hypocritically suggest the same for the Giants, but I have no real feelings towards them) I think Rudolph stands a fair shake at being really good, but, like any QB, his landing place will determine a lot. Did the Patriots or Tom Brady hit the lottery when he landed where he did? Would he be the same guy in Cleveland behind Tim Couch, or would his ability been able to save either Chris Palmer or more likely Butch Davis long enough to not sent the Browns into a tailspin of bad decisions that has no concrete sign of stopping yet? LOL, or did it all start when we didn't take Kurt Warner in the expansion draft when he was left unprotected. (kidding, hindsight is a curse)
There in lies the question..I don't think it depends AS MUCH on the prospect they eventually pick on April 26th, as much as it depends on whether this franchise has turned the corner as a whole. If they are going to change out coaching staffs after this season unless they make the playoffs..then it doesn't matter who they choose. Longevity from this year's draft(s) pick will depend on the longevity of this current coaching staff. Every time the coaching fails, that GMs crop of draft picks are doomed. This franchise has to find and stay with a coaching staff to build a winning team..plain and simple. Edit: To expand on that...The Browns were doomed when Modell moved the team and the new ownership's son took over..a son who had no football knowledge or passion...Let me clarify, no American Football passion. Had he never moved, Bill Belichick might have made US the Patriots you see today. I think Tom Brady deserves to be in the conversation as one of the best to ever play the game, but I think he should thank his LUCKY stars he fell into Bill's lap.
A good look at our defensive line (pre-draft): http://www.cleveland.com/browns/ind...rowns_predraft_dept_5.html#incart_river_index
Very cool...gotta give Jerry credit. He knows how to put on a show. This should be fun... https://brownswire.usatoday.com/201...ave-their-own-section-at-nfl-draft-in-dallas/
I think that's old school thinking. We've seen numerous coaching changes that have resulted in success without gutting the roster. The fact that there is basically no base defense anymore has aided that transition. If Hue doesn't perform this year they need to move on.
It seems like it's been a while since Cleveland showed this much draft interest in a Buckeye... https://www.ohio.com/akron/sports/b...rd-among-prospects-at-local-pro-day-of-browns
It isn't old school beach, it is what I have sat and watched happen every 2 years since 1999...I am not making this stuff up. Every new regime, and there have been WAY TOO MANY, has come in and gutted the roster. EVERY single one of them. I don't disagree that Hue is on a short leash, but his individual evaluation needs to be made based on what he is doing to get his coaches to work together and game day preparation. Last year, he was not prepared on game days and the change needed to be made to add an OC, which I have been calling for since day one. With Haley in the building, I expect a lot more from Hue. That doesn't mean, if this team that went 0-31 over the last two years only wins 6 games this year, they don't necessarily need to do a total over haul on the coaching staff, which in the past, has called for a total over haul of the roster. As a Steelers fan, you are not qualified to understand what a changing of the guard even means. Every time a coach retires, he is replaced by someone in the system. They have had the same philosophy since the early 70s.
I was talking about a coaching change, not a regime change. Dorsey isn't going anywhere. If he felt like he wanted to move on from Hugh next year he could hand pick his next coach similar to what happened in Philadelphia, Los Angeles (Rams) and Minnesota. No problem, doesn't seem unreasonable but if you're expectations are not met after the infusion of talent the last two years than they need to make a change. Doesn't mean they have to overhaul the roster. Dorsey hasn't done what you described above this year. He's added to the roster. This is now his team. Next year's team will be his team. The head coach could be replaced without an overhaul. Rude and complete nonsense. Wrong, the last two times they changed head coaches they've interviewed in house candidates and chosen to hire someone from outside Pittsburgh. Both Cowher and Tomlin have hired numerous coaches outside of the system.
It seems like Im saying this only to get it repeated in the next post...its like Im on ignore or something
