I saw the segment about NE wanting to get the #1 pick, offering 2 firsts, 2 seconds, and a first next year. I don't see the man who jump started the QB carousel allowing anyone to dictate who he selects as the franchise QB going forward. Dorsey will make sure that choice is his, to make and boldly make that choice at #1. The pkg looks tempting, but this is a GM who's first priority is "get a QB", and he's set the table with his early moves, to bring in a rookie and groom him without pressure to play. If someone has a genuine starting LT they want to donate, for a move to #4, I may think about it, along with some picks, but otherwise, I'm good, and the #1 pick is off limits. Tim's point about NE baiting Buffalo into making a move works to our advantage, if it's picks we want. Nice call Tim. Considering that #1 is a QB, and #3 is a QB, that leaves only 2 to choose from, and both the Giants and Denver may take a QB, leaving only crumbs for any other QB hungry team. So #4 may be a highly prized position for AZ, Miami, or Buff. As for NE: they go into the year with no heir apparent, a 40 year old QB, and no LT. Not a situation that inspires confidence. Seems like they made a lot of trades to position themselves to make a move, but I'd be all too happy to tell Bill to go polish your rings, or we'll take the kings ransom for the #4.
@kenibals. I don't see anyway NYG if they stay at 2 they don't pick the heir to Manning. He's done and they know it. IMHO they either trade the pick or grab a QB.
Disagree..I think they will take Barkley and try to run the ball more...they will also get OBJ and their WR group back after a ton of injuries...Manning isn’t done but he’s also not a 35-40 pass attempt guy every game
Manning isn't getting any younger, but I think he's got 3 yrs left, so I could see Saquon to ease the burden. Giants haven't had a decent running game in years. Could be an interesting year in the NFC north, with Philly, Washington with Smith, Dallas with Zeke all season, and NY healthy with Barkley.
Remember Manning was benched last year. NYG don't get an opportunity to pick #2 often. I don't think there is anyway they pick Barkley at 2. It's QB at 2 or they trade down IMHO. They would be crazy to pick a player they may have for 5 or 6 years on average compared to a player who may change their team for 15 years. If the Giants don't take the QB at 2 or don't trade out, they are going to damage that team for a decade. The word for them will be Mediocrity. The Vikings had the best RB in the game for many years and a very good defense, but didn't win a single Super Bowl.
They don’t need a QB right now...they can always draft a QB mid to late 1st round over the next couple of yrs
Lyman... I can understand your surprise. The truth is hard to find in print anymore these days. If Eli's last name was Jones, he'd already be out of the NFL. As far as the Giants are concerned Eli and the backup Webb who is a big question mark is a terrible QB situation.
Where’s the coach that benched him? They can take Barkley and trade up and grab Mason Rudolph to sit for a year and be in great shape.
lol... Then there is no reason for the Browns to grab a QB with the #1 and #4 picks with that thought process.
I wouldn't wish Eli Manning on my enemy. I think Cleveland would have booed him into retirement a few years ago. He's treated like a God because he was the QB when they won Super Bowls. Just like Phil Simms.
