How about trading Bell & our first round pick to Cleveland for the first overall pick. Then pick Barkley. Five years before we would have to go through the Bell scenario again.
Think the Browns would want more than Bell for the #1 pick. No way would they trade the #1 pick for a one year back. They have the cap space to give him the $$$ that he wants, but would the Browns want to do that? I would think not, take Barkley, he's got more long term value than Bell and they still likely a year away from really competing. They knock this draft out of the park and they'll be close. Really think Joe Thomas retiring was the biggest loss for the Browns this offseason.
Was it an exclusive or non-exclusive tag? Either way, he can't negotiate until he signs it... That said, I would say no emphatically to this. The Browns top need is QB, we are picking one at the #1 overall pick.
The picks have to be this season, not the future drafts. We have to improve our team, Bell’s production isn’t being replaced by a single second round pick.
Bell was a single 2nd round pick. I’d take a future 2nd too since the Gmen will probably be a bottom 10 team again. This could allow the Steelers to STRONGLY consider Big Ben’s replacement in Draft 2019 with that pick or continue to move up with it.
Well, there are only 4 teams that have (2) or more 2nd round picks Browns (who I don't think the Steelers will be trading Bell to within the division) Bills who have LeSean McCoy and Chris Ivory, but only $15.8M in cap space Patriots, Let's face it, Belichick isn't paying a RB $14M+ per year, it isn't happening Indianapolis Colts, who actually have THREE second rounders and who do in fact NEED a RB, and also have the cap space to sign him to an extension. I thought the number was two firsts...but if you are willing to take two seconds, better get on the phone with Irsay's Colts...They just might give you what you want.
