damn you frank, I was almost able to accept the loss after the twins quit. now I suffer. ok, nudder hit and a screwdriver
Yeah, you said Edmunds is a better prospect. If you believe that, why wouldn't you think he'd get drafted higher? Are GM's looking for the most talent, or the kid that went to the more popular school?
Was Michael Thomas the first WR off the board in his class? Did I project him to be the first WR drafted in his class? No on both counts. I don't rank prospects on where I think they will be drafted. I rank them on how well I think there game will translate to the next level. There are certain stigmas and biases that will always affect a players perceived value as well as GM and scouts simply missing on players from time to time. We see it play out over and over again each season. My projection on Edmonds has nothing to do with where I think he will be drafted.
Hack wasn't a better prospect but we all knew he'd go in the 2nd round. Brady was a better prospect but he went late. Tim doesn't get to draft players for NFL teams if he thinks someone is better. Plus many teams could love a guy they think will go round 5 and decide to pull the trigger R3 even if they think he is a r2 grade. Not always though as you see some WTF moments from some teams like the Pats. They follow their board to a T apparently.
A lot of people thought he was the best WR in that class... It's funny you bring that up as an example, since I'm the one guy that always gives you credit for that call... Fair enough...I thought they would go hand in hand...
I can see him at combine interviews. "On a scale from 0-10 where 0 is nothing and 10 is you passing the fuck out, how strong does this smell? And it probably wouldn't even rank in the top 1- of weirdest questions that year.
Wow. Was he? Nobody thought squat of him...That's why he went late... I was just bustin Tim's balls...lord knows he loves his small school guys. If you are going to make a statement that bold, you should expect people to raise an eyebrow....His Edmunds > Jones take is no different than me claiming Kyle Lauletta is a better propect than Josh Rosen. If I had said that, I'd expect people to react...
Not sure I agree with that. I remember being alone here and I can only recall one other site ranking him at the top (I believe it was Walter Football). That's the reason why I used it. If you remember, I had a handful of receivers that I believed would go ahead of Michael. I pegged him as a high second round pick but he was the top receiver on my board. It's not uncommon that my player ranks and my draft projections do not coincide. They rarely do. There is no way that Chase Edmonds will be drafted ahead of Ronald Jones. It just ain't happening. But everything in my scoring for running backs suggest that Chase will have a better chance to transition with success at the next level.
That's all good, and I'm fine with taking the heat for making that kind of statement. I stand by my work and don't back away from my misses. I just wanted to make sure that I was being clear enough with what I was saying for when we will inevitably discuss this again in the future.
