Vikings re-sign Marcus Sherels to one-year deal

 

The Vikings did a one year deal that's good,maybe they already have someone to take his place? at least it's not a Jarius Wright type of deal

 

are the Vikings really trying to sign Terance Newman...it's time to hang em-up and become a full time coach to help the young player's,I just find this hard to believe it's something I read

 

Yep... they are trying to bring Newman back for his 16th year. Last year they paid him $3.25M and are offering him less this year, but he wants about the same this year or there would have been a signing already. So, they are working on a number that will make both sides happy.

 

Wide receiver Kendall Wright has visited the Vikings, Field Yates of ESPN reports.

Wright, 28, is one of the better players left in free agency. He visited Kansas City last week.


A first-round pick of the Titans in 2012, Wright spent five seasons in Tennessee and last season in Chicago. He made 59 catches for 614 yards and a touchdown last season.

For his career, Wright has played 82 games with 45 starts. He has 339 catches for 3,858 yards and 19 touchdowns.

This is telling Treadwell your history really he's been a bust,I hope the Vikings draft is mostly about the O-line and I hope they can get a cb and a safety....and maybe they will get a lb a diamond that needs a little polish would be nice

 

I think you may be right on Treadwell... on the other hand, they really havnt tried too hard to incorporate him into the offense. It does look like he wont get any shot now with the signing of Kendall.

 

It doesn't look good for him does it.....but you are right he wasn't really part of the game plan Adam Theilen? saw to that he was just to damn good

 

Will the Vikings ever give Stacy Coley a shot it's nice they signed Kendall Wright,but they already had Stacy Coley I would like to see more, to see what he has maybe as a kick returner and punt returner,just curious

 

I don't know if this is true or not or maybe it's an April Fools Joke,I just read about a blockbuster trade by the Lions for Saquon Barkley....there tough enough already now there going to have running game

 

Barkley has to be drafted, lol.

Vikings Defense Could Repeat as NFL's Best in 2018

The 2017 season was a historic one for the Vikings defense.

Minnesota finished first overall by allowing just 15.8 points per game, the first time a Vikings defense had led the league in that stat since 1971. The Vikings also finished first overall in yards allowed per game with 275.9, Minnesota’s best defensive ranking in that stat category since 1993.

And if that wasn’t enough, the Vikings also recorded the top third-down defense since the NFL started tracking third-down percentage in 1991. Minnesota allowed 51 conversions on 202 attempts (25.2 percent).

As the 2018 season looms in a few months, Jared Dubin of CBS Sports recently wrote that he expects Minnesota’s defense to be among the challengers for the NFL’s top unit again.

Dubin wrote:

Remember how we mentioned earlier that the Jaguars finished last season second in both yards and points allowed? Well, these are the guys that finished first. In both categories. The Vikings also ranked second in yards allowed per play, points allowed per drive, and defensive DVOA. They were the only team in the league to finish in the top five in each of those categories, plus the top five in DVOA against both the run and the pass.

[Vikings Head Coach] Mike Zimmer is one of the best defensive coaches in the NFL, and he just got another fun toy to play with, as the Vikings signed former Jets and Seahawks star Sheldon Richardson on a one-year deal. Richardson should help mitigate the loss of interior stalwart Tom Johnson, and something tells me the Vikings will be OK getting by with just Linval Joseph, Everson Griffen, Danielle Hunter, Brian Robison, Anthony Barr, Eric Kendricks, Harrison Smith, Xavier Rhodes, Andrew Sendejo, and (assuming he comes back for one more year) Terence Newman.

Harrison Smith and Xavier Rhodes were First-Team All-Pro selections in 2017 and Pro Bowl starters. Linval Joseph also played in the game. Everson Griffen and Anthony Barr were Pro Bowl selections but did not play.

Dubin also mentioned the Jaguars, Rams, Eagles and Texans as teams that could also have strong defenses in 2018. (Vikings . com)

 

The Vikings sign Tavarres King wr. another body for camp,the pressure it's got to be getting to Treadwell now..i don't get this signing the O-line seems to be the important thing here got to protect the 84 million dollar man!

 

Its just a depth signing (King).

I expect the Vikings to address the O-line heavily in Free Agency and will load up in the upcoming Draft.
