Where Do We Go From Here?

Discussion in 'Cleveland Browns' started by TopDawg, Oct 2, 2017.

  1. Thats why their the Browns...just like they didnt want Wentz, Goff, Watson and settle for the 2nd round joker that is gone after one season or Kessler who trust Hue hes the man argument....get over yourself and stop trying to think you know everything

^^^^^ It's risky as hell to hype up all the QBs and then let the rest of the NFL decide who's left at #4 (and I also struggle to believe that these three very disparate QBs could carry equal grades). But it's not out of the realm of possibility.

In this case, however, you'd have to think (as @IrishDawg42 has suggested) that they'll roll the dice with Tyrod and just add best player(s) available.

Just to clarify (because we may end up discussing this again at some point) -

It was the lead up to this point with everything pointing towards Darnold and Allen (including historical draft information for players similar to Baker) along with how the pro days were handled. I would have included my personal rankings but they are entirely my opinion where the other two items I pointed towards are things that can be referenced directly through reports.

My opinion is that Mayfield does not look like he will be the choice for the Browns with their first pick of the draft based on the information available.

I'm not looking to go back into any of it at the moment and you have made your opinion on it clear.

I just wanted to make sure that my thoughts on the matter were as clear as possible.

Which might be the most logical course of action if you don't believe in any of these quarterbacks, but I think if you are Jon Dorsey you have to try and identify which of these arms you want to lead you for the long haul.

That would include through a potential coaching change if Hue continues to stack up losses even with the addition of Tyrod.

TD if you can't read that sentence and see there might be a salient point in there it's pointless to discuss it further.

Well, finally we agree, it's pointless to discuss it further...

Beach, WTF do you want from me??????? Are you just going in circles here, or what?

My god man...Obviously I was wrong about Johnny. Is that what you want??? Your amazing insight is noted....Do you need a pat on the back and an "attaboy" or what?

I thought Johnny would be a great pick for Cleveland.....I was wrong.

Now I think Mayfield would be a solid pick, and I don't know what the fuck you are trying prove....Just leave me out of it. I don't care that you can look back with the benefit of hindsight (as we all can) and point to mistakes...Good job. Thx. Go away.

Agree, or they know the one they want won't be picked in the first 3. And a smart GM would take advantage of that knowledge.

I'll have to check with the Admin. as I could have been in a different thread, but the one he grabbed those quotes from also had him *guaranteeing* Sammy Watkins would be the "best wide receiver in the NFL" by 2016.

Suspiciously, those posts are now missing from that thread...

He also suggested in there that we trade picks to New England for Ryan "Cokie" Mallet and has no problem with Ben Roethlisberger on his team... so maybe the notion of preferring sanctimonious QBs is a bit off the mark.

*IF* (and it's a big one) you have Darnold/Allen/Rosen/Mayfield graded equally and don't really prefer one guy over the next, then it makes a ton of sense to hype them individually, see what you can get on a trade market, and then take what's left at #4 after fleecing another team for #1 overall.

I just find that very difficult to believe.

Jeezus TD you weren't even the guy hyping Johnny last year and you're convinced I'm just trying to make YOU look bad? I couldn't have made my point anymore clearly and STILL you keep misrepresenting what I'm saying. So for the last time...

Mayfield has some character issues. Without the benefit of interviews and direct knowledge it would be foolish for ANYONE to just DISMISS these signs and suggest there is nothing to see here.

And my EXAMPLE of why that is a bad idea is Johnny Manziel and I'm SURPRISED that some of the guys in here didn't learn anything from it.

    Good grief.

Aren't you glad some of us don't judge based on one or two posts but rather the whole body of work/contribution?

There is absolutely no way to "know" the one you want will be there. If you want one of them, you take him at #1. Now, if you want one, but are not necessarily sold that he is sure fire, then if he is the one still standing after a trade down, you may still take him at #4. But if they have a clear cut top QB, then I don't think they even consider a trade.

If you think you are smarter than the next 2 people drafting, well you might miss out on your guy. That is a dangerous game, I don't believe they would play. My opinion is, they either have a clear cut guy, in which case nothing short of 3 firsts, plus other considerations, will be considered...or They make the pick. If that top QB isn't clear, then I do think they would entertain offers for the pick, but I don't think they will then reach for a QB at #4, I think they will take another position at that point.

Now the conspiracy theories are popping up. Let me tell you something pal. I don't delete posts. That's a pretty shitty accusation you're throwing out there.
