Where Do We Go From Here?

Wrong. These comments ARE my opinion and I'm expressing them. You certainly have never had a problem doing that at any point. And I post on the Steelers board when there's something to post about. The Steelers posters I don't want to interact with are on ignore so I have no reason not to post over there. It's just been quiet.

But I do appreciate you telling me why I'm doing something. I'll return the favor...

Your problem is that when you have your heart set on something it is IMPOSSIBLE for you to consider any other opinion. You will make the most insane arguments about things you have zero first hand knowledge of to support your desires. And you'll do it in the face of everything you hear and read that actually IS credible. The Pro Day conversation with Tim was a classic example. Reports are everywhere that Darnold is the Browns target and Mayfield is not. Mortensen (his reputation on the line) has said it's down to Darnold and Allen. Tim, who has been doing this longer than any of us makes a pretty fair point that not sending at least one of your top front office people to a guy's pro day who you are considering at the #1 pick is a red flag and you repeatedly try to draw him into an argument about why he is wrong in spite of him repeatedly telling you he'd rather not. I didn't stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night but I'm guessing Tim saw the same thing I'm describing here. You just can't accept that MAYBE someone might be seeing things a little more clearly than you.

It so reminded me of the Manziel situation 4 years ago. At one pointed you wanted to trade up to #1 for him. At another point you were willing to give up a future 1st round pick to get up to #2 to take him. Taking him at #4 was an absolute given if in your opinion he miraculously made it that far and when the reports started coming out that the Browns wouldn't take him you reacted the same way you guys are reacting in here. Total denial. It was all smoke and mirrors. And when Glazer came out a couple days before the draft and said under no circumstances were the Browns taking Manziel (he said they would draft him before they drafted Manziel) you said Jay was normally a pretty good source but due to a recent illness he could only make a certain amount of phone calls before he had to get some rest.

Just stop. Get over the man crush and focus your energy somewhere else (not me). The Browns appear to be learning from past mistakes and that's a positive thing.

    So to re-cap:
    • John Dorsey loves Baker Mayfield
    • Baker Mayfield fits John Dorsey's "QB Criteria" better than any other prospect in this class
    • Senior Adviser Scot McCloughan loves Baker Mayfield
    • Hue Jackson seems to genuinely like Baker Mayfield (especially as of late)
    • This F/O traded valuable assets for Tyrod Taylor, a hyper-efficient passer in the short- to intermediate range
    • New O.C. Todd Haley's gameplan for Ben Roethsliberger last season led to him excelling in the short- to intermediate-range

    • So the Browns are gonna draft Josh Allen because he can "throw the ball far"
    • Or, failing that, Sam Darnold because he's "safe"

And yet at no point was Johnny ever arrested for Public Intoxication / Resisting Arrest / Fleeing prior to draft day. Mayfield was.

lmao! The fact that Johnny managed to avoid an arrest doesn't mean anything...JM hit his girlfriend hard enough to blow out her ear drum. Do you think he should have been arrested? He was photographed doing coke in the bathroom. Should that have warranted an arrest? Get real, beach.

There's lots of bad guys that are good at avoiding arrests...

Maybe you're the guy that doesn't know squat and the guys that saw the Johnny debacle are a little wary of what they've seen from Mayfield?

Do me a favor, Beach. Give it up.

Yes . . . I did not like Manziel as an NFL QB candidate. But I have no such reservations about Mayfield. I just, personally, wouldn't draft him at #1 because I believe he will still be there at #4.

  12. beachbum M.V.P. Manager Steelers

I don't subscribe to the theory myself but there are some that say if you've ever been drunk you're an alcoholic. Mayfield was charged with public intoxication among other things. Does that mean he's an alcoholic? Of course not but it makes saying what you said above kind of foolish unless you're privy to information the rest of us are not.

    Hey SAS... Serious question.

Do you think there's any chance Dorsey is saying these things in case the Browns trade away the first pick and end up with 3 QBs gone when they pick at 4?

Oh so he didn't compare him to Ryan Leaf, Todd Marinovich and Jamarcus Russell? My bad.

I know you didn't ask me, but if the Browns trade away the first pick...they don't want any of these QBs, imho.

  19. Why is it so hard to admit Mayfield is not being drafted #1? SAS keeps showing us worthless stats, quotes and etc but we all know he's not going #1 so either except the fact or find another player to research

  20. SAS M.V.P. Rams Chargers

Trade away... as in how far down? If they void the Top 10 for #1 overall, they'll need to recoup a king's ransom, I think.

There's been enough smoke screens around to know that none of us know for sure, but it was being reported (by some) that the Browns all had "Rosen, Darnold, and Allen" very closely graded.
