You make the pick at #1 for Darnold with the deal already in place.

  3. Makes sense..thats what Im saying

Unfortunately, I cannot...This roster was desolate. Based on the sheer number of moves made PRIOR to that date via trades, I believe all hands were on deck to attempt to improve the roster even more that first week of free agency.

Under normal circumstances, yes I would agree with you. But, Dorsey's first year as GM, he has a clear agenda. Item #1 was veteran presence and that first week of free agency was extremely important to him. Missing Baker's pro day wasn't nearly as important as missing Darnold's pro day would have been. Mayfield already threw in shorts at the combine and did quite well. I don't think anything could have happened to influence Mayfield in a positive way from attending his pro day.

In the case of the Browns roster situation, it was imperative that everyone was available that first week in order to make educated decisions on veteran contract offers. If it had been any other time, I am convinced that the Browns would have been in full attendance.

Again, I agree 100% in your analogy between the two prospects, other than I would say it is more like taking a BMW fresh off a 1 year business lease, when talking about taking a prospect at #8 compared to taking the same position at #2. In this case the contrast in skill level is the difference maker. I don't think anyone would argue that Barkley is a more polished prospect than McCaffrey. So, the link between McCaffrey as a #8 prospect and Barkley as a #2 prospect is probably very similar...so, in retrospect, would he take McCaffrey at #8 AGAIN? That is what I am trying to say...Taking Barkley at #5-9 is a no brainer...even if you believe McCaffrey at #8 is a no brainer (which I didn't). But taking him at #2 is not a no brainer. I love Barkley, he is my top rated prospect, but in terms of GMs thinking and rationalizing (like you were talking in regards to Mayfield being 6 foot tall), #2 overall is a big chance on a position no one seems to elevate these days.

  6. Just eliminate the idea of the Browns taking Mayfield #1...it will make your life less stressful lol...you keep trying to convince yourself of the idea...ITS NOT HAPPENING

    How's this for a scenario.

At 1, Dorsey can't shake off the idea that a 6006 QB that falls on his face will tarnish his reputation and Darnold is selected at 1.

That leaves arguable the 2 best players in the draft still available and there is a feeding frenzy for picks 2 and 3.

Chubb and Barkley come off the board.

Cleveland is sitting at 4. Mayfield is still there.

Dorsey takes Mayfield at 4 like something out of draft day, then begins wheeling and dealing to see 1 of them left within the hour.

I think it's difficult to get inside the minds of most of these guys, but they are typically more creatures of habit than they are the type to reassess and change their mindset.

So, you NOW want me to place a bet giving you two of the top three considered options? The answer is no...again, fools bet, same as it would have been for you to take the one I stated.

What I think or believe doesn't amount to a hill of beans. I am not sitting in Berea hearing the conversations taking place. Why would I bet on that?

  10. Why would the NYJ trade up to the #3 then?

  11. You seem convinced Mayfield is going #1.....thats why you should bet

A much better idea would be to eliminate you from my life...

Ok, I'm willing to simply disagree.

There is a ton of information that can be picked up about a prospect at his pro day without even watching him perform. There's a reason why they have them, and that GMs, scouts and coaches consider them valuable.

  14. Heck Im willing to bet Mayfield isnt the #1 pick at $500 for Darnold or Allen $100...does that make the odds better?

  15. Whatever floats your boat....

No, I am retorting everything you write about Darnold being the #1 pick, because I don't want that to happen. It doesn't mean it won't, but you won't even consider the fact that Mayfield is being considered at #1 and that is ignorant on so many levels I can't even reason with you.

If they could bronze his arm, there are some in the scouting world that would be ready to do it before he ever threw the ball once in the league, lol.

He's got a lot of work to do in certain areas, and his accuracy issues are a combination of so many things that he may struggle to ever overcome them, but the level of potential he possesses is solid.

This doesn't even make sense...Get off your betting kick. I don't know you from jack..We don't know who you are, what your name is, I don't bet with a fart in the wind.

Lyman and I "know" each other. I don't hide my identity from anyone, most people on here know exactly who I am in real life.
