Where Do We Go From Here?

McKinnon, a quarterback that converted to running back, that never had the full support of the coaching staff, put up the same kind of production that Dalvin Cook did working in the Minnesota offense.

The Vikings could have saved the pick on Dalvin and rolled with McKinnon.

  3. He has played RB his whole NFL career..he has 474 career rushes in 4 NFL seasons...yes no doubt SF overpaid, but you let that guy walk all day when you have a D Cook...btw his most rushing attempts in a season was 159 and he avgd 3.4 ypc...Cook 4.8 in 74 rushes in 4 games

I agree with all of that. The problem there in lies, do you trust what you see? I believe if anyone trusts what they see it's John Dorsey...Which brings me to this:

I'm very curious, what are you basing this on?

I honestly don't for a second believe the Giants are making a pick at #2. I think their pick will come at #5 or #12. The Bills are positioning themselves, they are not going to miss out on one of the top 4 QBs. The only way to get one of the top two is to go all in and move up to #2..That can be done 2 ways...IF the Broncos decide they are not throwing any extra assets to move up to #2, then I could see them moving down to #12 with the Bills in order for the Bills to acquire the #5 pick, and then make the move up to #2 ahead of the Jets. Frankly, I don't think the Giants want to move past #5. I think the Giants will either trade down...OR if forced to pick at #2, it will be for Manning's successor. For the same reasons you are giving for GMs to not take a 6 foot QB early in the draft, the Giants are not drafting a RB #2 overall, when they will have highly skilled RBs available at #34. I think they move down to #5 and hope Chubb is sitting there...But, this QB class is too highly touted to pass on one of them at #2, even if they don't necessarily want to.

QBs will go 1-2-3 this year...

If he did go later, it wouldn't surprise anyone, as the majority of the talking heads are saying the same thing you are. I will be shocked, I won't lie, but this is the NFL draft...anything is possible.

McKinnon converted in college, he was never considered an option to take over after Peterson, the coaching staff was forced to use him as the lead back and he put up the same scrimmage yards and more TDs than Cook did, your opinion on drafting Cook is noted.

The Darnold to Cleveland connection has been there for some time. The Allen connection has slowly heated up, but I think the way they handled the pro days is telling. There is absolutely no reason for the Browns to mask what they want to do with that first pick. They may negotiate with the Giants about swapping picks, but they had the full contingent at Allen's pro day and most of the group at Darnold's. I still think the pick is Sam, but at this point I would be a bit less surprised if they actually went with Josh.
Gettleman took Christian McCaffrey at #8 overall and was quoted as calling it "a no-brainer". If he felt like that making a top 10 selection on Christian, than Saquon is definitely in play at #2 overall. I think the push to get Manning's successor has cooled a bit with Shurmur and Gettleman involved. That doesn't rule out the Giants taking a quarterback in the top 3 rounds of this draft but the desire to win now may be all that's needed to avoid it at the top and take a player they believe can fix a lot of issues with balance on the offense.
That's what I meant by shocking a lot of people. The draftnik community, a lot of bloggers and a lot of little known analysts are all in on Baker. He is without a doubt a fan favorite and it's easy to see why.

    @Tim ,

Am I correct in assuming you believe Barkley to be a top 6 pick?

    I do.

He's going to be either at or near the top of my overall board, but he definitely won't fall anything lower than 5.

That's what I figured...You also need to take into account that Baker Mayfield's pro day was scheduled on the first day of the league year and THAT is why the major players didn't attend. By the time that day came, they already had a private workout scheduled with Mayfield.

As for Mayfield, there are MANY tell signs..They have exhausted all avenues other than his pro day. They interviewed him at the combine, the setup the private workout AND have him scheduled for a visit in Cleveland..most of all, John Dorsey attended 6 of Mayfield's games live and in person. He didn't take the time out of his schedule (albeit before he had signed as the Browns GM), to attend the other QBs games live. He loves this kids play.

The majority of the league year business was settled by the time Darnold and Allen's pro day took place last week. It was easy for the contingency to "get away" and take a sabbatical, if you will, at the two pro days, as well as the entire entourage going to OU campus for the private workout with Baker. They then returned home to set their sites back on free agency and begin to set their draft board.

Ask yourself this...Was McCaffrey "worth" that #8 overall pick? Did he make the impact expected of a top ten draft pick year one? Were there others that had a higher impact taken later in the draft? Would all of that information possibly make you second guess yourself after being relieved of your duties and reflecting?

McCaffery had a 1,068 yards and 7 TDs as a rookie...is that "enough" to make you do it again, only 6 picks higher than the last decision you made?
    :OK:

  10. Honest question...why wouldnt the Browns take Darnold at #1 then negotiate w NYG if they really wanted him?

Because they are taking Mayfield #1, duh....

  12. bet $500?

You don't want to make a bet with me...Just ask Lyman, he's still waiting on a case of Ol' Leg Humper from two years ago.

Regardless, I don't bet on anything I have no control over. Fact is, I don't know any more than you do who they are even considering, that is a fool's bet... Are you willing to bet, $100 that if they take Darnold #1 overall you win, if they take anyone other than Darnold, I win? Of course not, you are only hedging on the fact they won't take Mayfield...

  14. You seemed convinced they are taking Mayfield...I think its Allen or Darnold so yes I will bet $100

  15. IrishDawg42 Legend Manager Browns Buckeyes Fighting Irish

You do realize, based on what I said, the only way you win is if it is Darnold...right? If it's Allen, you lose...if it's Rosen, you lose....If it's Barkley or Chubb, you lose...

I can stipulate that what you posted is a possibility if you can agree that having as much information as possible about the potential face of your franchise would possibly warrant making the trip to Oklahoma regardless of the situation.

Can we agree on both points?
I can see that line of thinking, but that was Christian McCaffrey and this is Saquon Barkley. It's like you have an opportunity to pay $20k for a used BMW that ended up needing some work compared to spending $60k on a new one with a full warranty.

I'll admit, that analogy is kind of shitty but does it make a bit of sense in the idea that if Gettleman felt like it took no time to make the decision on McCaffrey at #8 that Saquon at #2 would feel like a really solid deal?

  17. Hence why I said either Allen or Darnold

  18. Campbell Administrator Manager Commissioner

They could go that route, but if the handle it ahead of time it gives them the opportunity to also work out a deal at #4 to try and maximize their draft.

  19. Why take the chance on missing out on your guy unless you 100% have trust NYG are telling the truth

Browns get: #2, Odell Beckham Jr.
Giants get: #1, 2019 second round pick

    Who says no.
